How about a new idea? Recruiters that have actually worked the positions they are filling! We have worked in roles from Production Supervisor to VP of Engineering and bring 35+ years of experience.
Last week, an interesting article titled "Landing a Job Is All About Who You Know (Again)" was published in the Wall Street Journal. The article mentioned a case where a company received 983 job applications for a position, but did not hire anyone from those applications. Similar situations have been observed by us before, none as extreme as this. In one instance, a person applied for a position along with 611 other applicants and received a call for an interview within 4 hours. She was eventually hired and will start working on June 8th, but it's evident that she was lucky. It's hard to believe that the company's HR team could review 611 resumes and select hers within just 4 hours. Can you count on being that lucky in your job search, or in looking for talent? Can your HR Department successfully sort through hundreds of resumes and find those that have the skills and experience needed? Feel free to reach out to us, and we can discuss strategies for connecting qualified candidates directly with the engineering teams to ensure that they receive proper consideration. https://lnkd.in/gsgVm5Yb

Crazy idea No. 263,731: have companies pay for job listings by the number of applications received. You can cast that wide net with minimal information, sure, but be willing to pay for thousands of unqualified applicants. Or, craft a surgical listing with more complete information and get 7 highly qualified applicants ready to be interviewed. It's not like companies shouldn't already see a value in pre-qualifying applicants, but maybe some need a little more help in the analysis?

Well said, as usual. I think of this often from a math perspective. On a regular basis I see RE-posted jobs here with over 100 applications after also getting 100 on the first go 'round. So let's keep it simple - and these are total guesses: 200 resumes - let's assume half aren't qualified/resumes don't pass ATS Out of 100 remaining resumes - let's assume they like 15 from each round so 30 left for screening/Round 1 Out of 15 per Round 1, assume they want 5-6 to actually make Round 2 (?...again, guesses) so 12 left or 6% Still no one hired - something's amiss. Sabotage, indecision, scope creep, poor job description. Possibility of a fake listing? Crazy.

If your team has interviewed 25 candidates for a role and you still haven’t hired anyone then someone internally is sabotaging the hire. There is no reason to have seen that many people, some of them 3 times and not been able to say… hey we can probably train at least one of these people on the one thing they are missing. At the very least the CFO needs to step in and say hey we are wasting a lot of money right now. ______________________ Join 6000+ who follow my FREE newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gET8B2jH Check out my website for Resume & Career Coaching support: https://lnkd.in/gB6Dxr6A Join my community of over 500 Recruiters who are changing the world: https://lnkd.in/gDWxWUxE

On average, recruiters have made up their mind about the candidate within the first minute. The most effective way to get placed into the “yes” pile is by tailoring your resume to each position you’re applying for. Learn how: https://lnkd.in/evqeYMVe
