Is water such a big deal? Yes. That's why movements like the #parisclimateagreement insists on strategies like water policy to tackle the effects of #climatechange on water resources and quality. Such moves will promote water sustainability, protecting a resource that's vital for ecosystems' survival and the environment. Our #Studyabroad program includes lessons on the formulation and implementation of such policies. Photo Credits: RASUL YARICHEV on pexels

Prof Shola Ololade – all about innovative and practical solutions for water conservation Prof Shola Ololade, Acting Director of the Centre for Environmental Management, states that it is not enough to only have access to sufficient water, but that the quality of water is also important. “Often, people do gain access to water, but the quality is not good enough, and eventually, it makes them sick. The right of the people is to be provided with good quality water.” “Water is valuable. Without water, humans cannot survive. It is important to use water wisely, to protect our water resources, and to reduce the impact of climate change on our water resources.” Read more: https://ufsweb.co/4aa3703 #WorldWaterDay2024 | #WorldWaterDay | #WaterAction

We aim to make a positive impact on the world's economy and society while protecting the environmental resources it depends on. This includes protecting and conserving critical resources like water. In 2023, we helped customers save more than 310 million gallons of water through process and chemistry improvements. “The costs of insufficient or delayed implementation of integrated water management will be unaffordable,” is what the European Commission told us last week and what we’re thinking about on today’s #WorldWaterDay. 🚨 There’s no time to lose – we’re already seeing droughts in Southern Europe affecting aquatic ecosystems, access to freshwater and people’s livelihoods. 🚿 Fortunately, frontrunners are committed to battling climate change and providing ready-to-scale water-efficient technologies which will help us improve water management and increase our water resilience! 💧 As #SustainablePublicAffairs, we are calling on the next Commission to make water a key priority and a focus on circular water management, with dedicated support for innovative technologies and business models. We would love to hear what you want to see in an EU holistic plan on water! 💧 Rethinking Water Governance 🌍 The decline in freshwater availability—both in quantity and quality—represents one of the major challenges of our time. Factors such as climate change and marine intrusion contribute to this issue, leading to increased salinity. We often hear that "we cannot manage what we do not measure." However, this perspective overlooks the complexity of the socio-ecological systems connected to our water resources. Ignoring these human dynamics can render our investments in research and aid programs ineffective. Water governance is fundamentally a challenge of coordination and collaboration. To achieve meaningful results, we must adopt an integrated approach that addresses the complexities of the systems we manage. Let’s commit together to sustainable water governance, essential for the well-being of future generations. 💪🌱 #WaterGovernance #Sustainability #NaturalResources #IntegratedApproach
