A successful Data Protection and Cybersecurity Networking event recently took place in Miami! 🙌🇺🇸 The event provided a platform for discussing the evolving challenges and strategies in data protection and cybersecurity within the sports industry. Underscoring the critical importance of collaboration and information exchange to stay ahead of cyber threats and data protection challenges, the event highlighted the necessity for sports organisations to prioritise data protection and cybersecurity. The event featured Ashish Khanna, Senior Managing Director at Verizon and J. Trevor Hughes, CEO and President of IAPP. In an informative discussion, Ashish shared insights on cyber threats, the role of digital transformation and AI and the impact of cyber attacks on both venue and fan experiences, while Trevor provided an overview of the history of privacy and the lessons learned from past experiences. FIFA Head of Data Protection & Cybersecurity Risk Jorge Oliveira e Carmo, CIPM said: “The next decade will be a thrilling era of intense sports events in the US. This makes navigating the challenging privacy regulatory landscape and researching politically motivated cyber threats a top priority for sports organisations." The networking event is part of an ongoing series aimed at fostering global collaboration in privacy and security best practices within the sports sector.
