Last chance saloon? 2.     Saudi Arabia could have a big impact on the current state of the market again, especially for outgoings with Premier League clubs. Stars such as Mohammed Salah, Casemiro, Richarlison and Jadon Sancho linked with moves away. Saudi Pro League Director of Football, Michael Emenalo, has muted this by suggesting most of the competition’s teams “have what they need”. 3.     Expect a big name transfer in Women’s football. It’s no secret that women’s football is becoming bigger and better and the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup brought huge attention to the game and will have an impact on club spending this winter. However, expect the ‘milestone £1m transfer’ to come in summer, not winter, 2024. 4.     Winter transfer window spend by clubs will be lower than in 2023. With a huge amount of activity in summer 2023, we can expect clubs to be more cautious this window. Can we? 5.     Clubs will look to pen deals for star signings from lesser-known markets outside of Europe. The recent 2023 FIFA u17 World Cup opens up an opportunity for clubs to sign future stars, especially from teams who had a solid run in the tournament.
