The FIFA Women’s Development Programme: In numbers! 🔢 The FIFA Women’s Development Programme has been renewed and expanded until 2027, adding five additional offerings for member associations to develop women’s football at a national level. Since the initial launch in September 2021, 147 member associations have implemented a total of 1,067 programmes, while the number of ranked women’s national teams has increased by 64% over the past six years. The new programme will culminate in 2027, the year of the tenth FIFA Women’s World Cup™. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eiQ7nR2R

The international organization with the most entities is FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which has 211 member associations as of 2024. This number exceeds the 193 member states of the United Nations (UN) because FIFA includes territories, regions, and sub-national entities that are not recognized as sovereign states by the UN. Breakdown of FIFA Membership: 193 UN member states. 18 additional members, including non-sovereign entities, territories, and partially recognized states (e.g., Hong Kong, Palestine, Gibraltar, and the Faroe Islands). Other Organizations with High Membership: 1. United Nations (UN): 193 member states and 2 observer states (Vatican City and Palestine). 2. International Telecommunication Union (ITU): 193 UN member states and over 800 private sector members, though it is primarily composed of nation-states. 3. International Olympic Committee (IOC): 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs), which include some non-sovereign regions like Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, and Guam. 4. Universal Postal Union (UPU): 192 member countries, working together for global postal cooperation. While the UN remains the most prominent international body for sovereign states, FIFA has the most members when including non-sovereign territories, regions, and partially recognized entities.

"A game is only as good as the field it is played on". Slippages and injuries, among other issues, are consequences of poor pitch conditions. The former, was notably seen at a few host venues during the recently concluded URFA EURO 2024. High-quality pitch maintenance has become of utmost importance to advancing women's football, not just for the sport itself but for the well-being of its players. Astonishingly, 25-30 players missed the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023 in Australia due to ACL injuries, raising serious concerns about a nuanced gender issue that needs further study. Pitch conditions play a massive role in the sustainment of ACL injuries in particular. FIFA must rigorously and transparently ensure that bids to host the 2030 and 2034 men’s World Cup tournaments fully safeguard human rights and reject any offer that risks abuses once again tainting the world’s largest sporting event, Amnesty International and the SRA say in a new report. ´Playing a Dangerous Game? On 31 May 2024, FIFA has issued the June 2024 edition of the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (the 'FIFA RSTP'), along with Circular No. 1887, an Explanatory Note regarding Annexe 7 of the FIFA RSTP and an Explanatory Note regarding Female Players.   With this new edition of the 'RSTP', the following matters were the subject of the amendments:   - Provisions regarding female players and football coaches - The decision to extend the applicability of Annexe 7 of the FIFA RSTP due to the ongoing war in Ukraine - The International Transfer Process for Football, in particular the use of TMS   Amongst the most notorious amendments and following a permanent effort from FIFA to keep acknowledging and adjusting the applicable set of regulations to the nuances of female football, this new 'FIFA RSTP' provides a revision of the definitions of “maternity leave”, “adoption leave” and “family leave”, all of which are clarified in the Explanatory Note regarding Female Players.   Furthermore, and with regards to the International Transfer Process for Football, we believe that it is vital to highlight that the new FIFA RSTP has generated an obligation for football clubs to declare and to upload any amendments made regarding club-to-club payment terms in the context of an international transfer.   All the referred amendments are in force since 1 June 2024.   For more information, please find enclosed the following links: FIFA Circular No. 1887: https://lnkd.in/gv37Pjnc   FIFA RSTP edition June 2024: https://lnkd.in/dYp9nqDr     FIFA Explanatory Note regarding Annexe 7: https://lnkd.in/g8GFGqJw     FIFA Explantory Note regarding Female Players: https://lnkd.in/gWU9bb_2 #MuñozAriasSportsLawyers #sportslawyers #FIFA

The FIFA Council approved an amendment to the FIFA Football Agents Regulations (FFAR) at its meeting on 10 December 2024. ⚽📅 Although the amendment was approved following a consultation process with the #FootballAgents Working Group, it contains no changes from the suspended 2023 edition. 📜✋ According to the new FIFA Football Agent Regulation, January 2025 edition, all disputed issues concerning the following will apply: - fee cap limits for Agent fees 💰🔒 - dual representation ⚖️🤝 - payment of fees exclusively by the client 🧾💼 - inability to receive fees that are not due at the time of signing the - employment contract ❌✍️ - payment of fees exclusively through the FIFA Clearing House 🏦🌍 - agent's duty to publish data regarding the client on the FIFA platform (agency agreement, any contract with the client other than the agency agreement, data on payment of fees) 📊🔍 - jurisdiction of the FIFA Agents Chamber 🏛️⚽ Despite consultations with working groups representing the interests of Agents and court proceedings initiated around the world regarding the acceptability and justification of such measures, FIFA has not relented about the changes it has advocated from the very beginning. 🔎🚫 Currently, there are differently regulated disputed issues relating to national provisions for agents by 🇮🇹FIGC - Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio, 🇩🇪DFB, 🇫🇷FFF - Fédération Française de Football, 🇪🇸Real Federación Española de Fútbol, 🇨🇭Schweizerischer Fussballverband (SFV), and the 🇳🇱KNVB concerning FIFA regulations. 🌍 The aforementioned legal inconsistency leads to different treatment of FIFA agents depending on whether national regulations or FIFA international regulations are applied, further complicating the operations of agents. ⚖️🔄 Accordingly, the question remains whether FIFA will remain in its position or, after the decisions of national courts, will accept the proposals advocated by agents worldwide to achieve the unification of rights and obligations that FIFA Agents would have. 🌐 source: https://lnkd.in/dP_DMq6E
