#wellnessmatters SO, WHAT IS THE RIGHT “FINANCE  FORMULA” FOR RELATIONSHIPS? Well, 1 + 8 = 9.  But so is 2 + 7, 3 + 6, and 4 + 5.  In fact, we can arrive at the same 9 result not only when we add up, but also when we subtract, multiply and divide different pairs of numbers. So, on the raging debate about how to split financial responsibilities in a marriage or partnership, keep in mind that your view isn’t the only rational or valid one. No, my dear friend, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all situation.There is no universal formula to it. What works well for Couple A may not necessarily work for Couple B.  If you truly care about your relationship, the onus is on you to look at your unique circumstances and decide with your significant other what works best for the unit. If you're looking to maximize your business, life marriage, parenting, faith, or anything in between, playing the victim card is not going to get you there. Why do couples argue about money? On the surface, it's because of financial stress, or budget and spending. But on a deeper level, it's because of different values and beliefs about money. Be it: money is everything VS money isn’t everything Or even: there will never be enough money VS there will always be enough money These are tricky and emotional topics. However, it's always 💯 worth it to talk about it with your partner. Try to understand "what" made them stressed, and more importantly "why" they felt that way. Remember: getting together is easy, staying together takes effort. For a strong, lasting relationship, you need to talk openly and honestly, even if it's hard. It's something I stand by strongly in my marriage too. I spent 16 years with Ryan and whenever there's a disagreement, we talk it out. We try not to let things fester. It's how we make our relationships work and our love alive. Because between couples, it's never me VS you. It's always a "we/us". - How can we solve this problem together? - How can we compromise for what we both want? Sensitive topics will always be there. Money will definitely be one of them as you get more serious with each other. However, talking helps solve these issues before it drive a wedge in the relationship. At the end of the day, the partner we choose to spend our life with is not our rival. Most couples believe that they will stay close throughout their relationship because they feel so close to begin with. When couples feel they are drifting apart it can create confusion, hurt, disappointment and disillusionment. They often feel and voice the frustration that they never thought it would happen to them. I wrote this article for the Your Tango online magazine to lay out the steps needed to get back couple closeness.

Everyone experiences these feelings. Some people may be able to handle these feelings a little bit better than others, but at some point, we've all wondered if we are doing enough.. Am I giving my kids the quality time that they deserve...or are they just getting left over mommy. Am I growing my business fast enough? Do I even have it in me to do ALL of "this?" They are so much further along than me, smarter than me, more successful than me, prettier than me, a better mom than me..... And the list goes on. We rarely feel like we're doing all things well, but let's be honest. EVERYTHING can't run perfectly ALL the time. 🔥🔥Your business, relationships, friendships, marriage, your children's behavior, the laundry, dishes, and cleaning your house can NOT run on all cylinders 100% of the time. 🔥🔥 Take a deep breathe, give yourself a break, and chill for a second. YOU ARE ENOUGH. Do you feel like this sometimes? Tag a friend, save this, and send it to someone who might need it.

Stop trying to please your partner. If your only focus is making your partner happy then you lose focus on making yourself happy. And I’m not saying you should just ignore your partner altogether, you still have to show up for them. I’m just saying that in long-term relationships, if you’re both happy individually then you’ll be happy together as well.
