🌍💪 Be the hero we need! 💪🌍 Jim Skea, Chairman of the IPCC, recently highlighted the stark reality: 1.5°C is out of reach, and achieving 2°C will require heroic efforts. But here's the thing – every fraction of a degree matters. Every small action we take can make a big difference. Let's rise to the challenge and be the heroes our planet needs. Whether it's reducing our carbon footprint, supporting sustainable initiatives, or spreading awareness, we all have a role to play. Be mindful of how your actions, money, and votes can be part of the solution. Together, we can make a difference🌱🌟 #ClimateAction #Sustainability #BeTheChange #EveryDegreeCounts #DontChooseExtinction

We're already in the red zone, let's change course before the yellow one!
#ClimateWeekNYC - sadly, my impressions from far away have been pretty painful: it was another complacent, self-congratulatory parade of mostly those corporations whose ignorance, procrastination and short-sightedness have supercharged the climate crisis in the last three-fours decades. Even OpenAI would share this sentiment with me as shown below by a sad, Shakespearean sonnet: ' The sycophants of wealth do proudly boast, Of progress made, yet blind they are to see, The rising flames, the earth already lost, To doom, where dire disasters come to be. For though they claim great strides, we falter still, One point five looms, its threshold now in sight, Each day brings storms, fierce floods, and rising ill, Yet news turns blind, ignoring nature’s plight. Three decades gone, and what have we to show? The smoke ascends, emissions ever soar, While leaders fail, unwilling heads laid low, New voices must arise, or all’s no more. We stand too late, the time for calm is done, This crisis, friends, demands we act as one.' So, here comes three requests for three possibly overlapping groups: 1, Corporations: Scale and Speed up climate action by formulating and demanding stringent, ambitious and enforceable Regulation. 2, Individuals: please signal where do YOU stand on the timeline / chart of Brendan Leonard below! (you may also wish to consult the responses from last year here: https://bit.ly/49qDisQ) 3, Artists: (a) come with a single line, mobilizing title of the sonnet above and (b) formulate visual/verbal tools helping to wake up & act. Thank you! #climatechange #sustainability #netzero #governance #power #LinkedInClimate

How about we also address the $7 trillion in fossil fuel subsidies and make energy industries accountable for their emissions too? 🌍 Fossil fuels contribute to 65% of global CO2 emissions, while livestock and manure account for less than 6%. Shouldn’t we prioritize where the biggest impact lies? #Sustainability #ClimateAction #EmissionsReduction #Agriculture #CleanEnergy #NetZero #ClimateChange #CarbonFootprint #DontChooseExtinction https://lnkd.in/dYHQ-Whu

Great discussion during our panel at the Sustainable Finance Forum in Zurich, where we explored the challenges of living in a bi-polar world. On one hand, financial regulation aims to steer capital toward sustainable development, but in practice, it often only tackles the risk of greenwashing. Meanwhile, we face an annual $7 trillion subsidy for fossil fuels, highlighting the complexity of truly aligning financial flows with sustainability goals. Thanks to Bloomberg for hosting such a critical event and to all the speakers for their valuable insights! #SustainableFinance #ESG #Regulation #ClimateAction #Greenwashing #DontChooseExtinction
On Tuesday, September 17th, Bloomberg hosted its flagship Sustainable Finance Forum in Zurich, where regulators, industry leaders, and market participants explored the rapidly evolving sustainable finance landscape. Key highlights included: 💡 Financial institutions' growing need to integrate biodiversity into transition plans to meet global sustainability targets, with inspiring keynotes by Christoph König from the State Secretariat for International Finance SIF and Gareth Thomas PhD MRSB from the Natural History Museum. 💡 Practical insights on navigating European and Swiss regulations, featuring a panel discussion with Antonio Carrillo from Holcim, Ruben Feldman from Zürcher Kantonalbank, and Volker Schieck from UBS. 💡 A compelling keynote by Jonas Rooze from BloombergNEF, underscoring the need to focus capital on tackling real-world emissions, rather than just financed emissions. A big thank you to all our speakers for sharing their expertise! #SustainableFinance #ESG #Regulation #Biodiversity #ClimateAction

Not so common knowledge should become common knowledge. Leonardo painted the Earlier Mona Lisa before the Louvre Mona Lisa!
The Two Mona Lisas Theory The Isleworth Mona Lisa Was there another Mona Lisa (La Gioconda) painting crafted by Leonardo? Whether you believe the hypothesis advanced by several credible mainstream Leonardo scholars that Leonardo da Vinci was working on an earlier version of the Louvre Mona Lisa (La Gioconda), you need to know the backstory of what is known as the Isleworth Mona Lisa. The Isleworth Mona Lisa is an early sixteenth-century oil on canvas painting depicting the same subject as Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, though with the subject (possibly Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo) depicted as being a younger age. “The painting is thought to have been brought from Italy to England in the 1780s, and came into public view in 1913 when the English connoisseur Hugh Blaker acquired it from a manor house in Somerset, where it was thought to have been hanging for over a century. “Since the 1910s, experts in various fields, as well as the collectors who have acquired ownership of the painting, have asserted that the major elements of the painting are the work of Leonardo himself, as an earlier version of the Mona Lisa.” I am agnostic, but fascinated.
