Any aspect of life, cinematography, contrast always create impact and that thump. Well in design we have a colour wheel which allows you to create a myriad of combinations of light. Today I wanted to highlight the easiest yet most compelling one; complimentary colours. You’ll find these colours on the opposite side of wheel and they contrast each other thus creating a compelling visual queue. Look at basically any blockbuster and you’ll see the legendary combination of teal & orange

A considerable effort is given to creating a shallow depth of field (DoF) in order to create a more cinematographic look, enabling the cinematographer to guide the viewer to concentrate ONLY on the small areas of sharp focus. However, there are occasions when it is preferable for the viewer to be able to see focussed images over a great range, so this is a short treatment of methods to creating a large DoF. Here's something super cool that I got to voice: an Imax movie titled Call of the Dolphins. The cinematography, script, and people you meet in it are so cool, the narration is the icing on the cake. Can't wait to see it on a giant screen to get the full effect. Tarkovsky opposed to the movie editing and considered that the basis of the art of cinematography (movie art) is the internal rhythm of images. He considers cinema as a representation of distinctive currents or time waves, transmitted in the film through its internal rhythm. Rhythm is at the heart of the "poetic film". A rhythm like a movement inside the frame ("sculpting in time"), not as a sequence of images in time. Time within the frame expresses something significant and true that goes beyond the events itself, received differently by each spectator. The rhythm is not determined by the length of the sequences, but by the pressure of time passing through them. DOI: 10.13140/RG.2.2.11136.48642
