Check out this insightful 'On Point' video about Dune Part 2. The video discusses how this blockbuster is setting itself apart in the industry by giving creatives more control. It's refreshing to see a big film take such risks and not rely on tired tropes. The video also makes an interesting comparison to other uninspired films. Have a watch and see what you think! #DunePart2 #Filmmaking #Creativity #OnPoint

Cats, Death and Chocolate... Those are just some of the themes we explored with University of Exeter Archaeology and History Department on their Research Away Day. We love giving these workshops where we take a team out of their comfort zone and into the creative space. In this case, we developed 10 short films about what the department is doing. It's great to see everyone really get stuck in with the challenges... AND of course you learn so much by just speaking to historians and archaeologist, like: the connection between cats and overfishing; how we can learn more from lies than from truths; and the history of magic... Good work everyone! The films will be ready soon...
Had an amazing Research Away day at the Hall today, which will result in some cool short videos 😍 Facilitated by Guy Natanel from Preston Street Films. 👀 Watch this space!

New Post: Lucasfilm Is Ready to Defend The Acolyte From Bigoted Backlash - https://lnkd.in/ghQVWFSh - Lucasfilm has had what can, charitably, be described as a rocky history with how it has handled Star Wars frequently finding itself the target of the ever-evolving reactionary culture war. In fits and starts, the studio has struggled in defending stars and crew from harassment and baseless accusations, from the…Read more... - #news #business #world -------------------------------------------------- Download: Stupid Simple CMS - https://lnkd.in/g4y9XFgR -------------------------------------------------- or download at SourceForge - https://lnkd.in/gNqB7dnp

Slightly different from my usual posts on the future of the energy system, but this really caught my attention. It amazes me just how much 'stuff' we consume these days. I was introduced to 'Teemu' at the weekend (probably a long time after the rest of the world knew about it!) and was told 'it's great, it's just the same as Amazon but everything is cheaper'. But we don't seem to ever stop and think - do we need all of this 'stuff'? Where has it come from? What impact is this having on the planet? And why is it cheaper...? Perhaps having recently become a father I see it more acutely than others - babies certainly mean more 'stuff'. But we need to find a way to break this march of endless consumerism. I don't know if that's through taking more personal responsibility for what we consume, or it's through regulation, or through more responsible business. It's probably a combination of all of the above.
“We have this enormous problem that is threatening the entire world.” Welcome to the age of cheap crap. Our new film The Shitthropocene is a mock anthropological view of humanity’s consumption habits, turning a satirical (yet brutally honest) eye on how everything is turning to shit and why the impulse toward “more” might destroy us all.
