Exciting to follow the development towards CO2 free Casthouses with the testing of plasma burners. Interesting to see how easy it will be to integrate into existing facilities, and how this can contribute to increased operational performance with improved cycle times and reduced dross

The pathway to ultrapure feedwater for #electrolysis to generate #hydrogen depends on the starting point. From seawater, desalination followed by solids filtration and purification... the full process is required. From river water, solids filtration, then purification. From tap-water, a simplified purification process is OK. But, don't forget... the water recirculation in the PEM electrolyser circuit or lye recirculation in the alkaline electrolyser will be a much higher flow than the feedwater topup and this ALSO requires purification. And then there may be additional cooling water requirements - if evaporative cooling has been selected in preference to air cooling. Oh... and by the way... want to see what happens when it goes wrong? Boom.. roof-off NANE (Need Another New Electrolyser) situation. It pays to pay attention to water and lye management.
