🎯 Since the 1960s, Moldova's electronics industry has been steadily expanding its capabilities. The sector's inception dates back to the early 1960s, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in our region's industrial development. For the next three decades, Moldova was a key producer of electronics with dual-use applications, contributing to the defence sector of the former Soviet Union. Our factories manufactured essential electronic components for fighter planes, rockets, aerospace, and other defence-related equipment. Additionally, Moldova was known for producing consumer electronics such as televisions, radios, refrigerators, and various household appliances. 📌 In the early 1990s, the focus of Moldova's electronics production shifted away from defence-related outputs. Today, our electronics industry is recognized for its expertise in producing smart meter devices, power electronics for urban public transport, wire harnesses for the automotive industry, as well as advanced micro and nanowires. 📚 Moldova's strong educational foundation in engineering has enabled us to continue advancing in the electronics sector. Our modern companies are known for producing high-quality electronics that are highly regarded worldwide. Moldovan engineers are committed to expanding their knowledge and engaging in cutting-edge research to develop new technologies. 🤔 Hope that I intrigued you. ⬇ For a more comprehensive overview of Moldova's electronics sector, please refer to my presentation at the Moldova Electronics Forum 2024: 🔸 The English version: https://lnkd.in/dNx5PraV 🔸The Romanian version: https://lnkd.in/d494iaus ✅ Stay updated with the latest industry news by following the Moldova Electronics Association on: 🔸YouTube https://lnkd.in/dBYd82iF 🔸LinkedIn Moldova Electronics Association ACEM 🔸Facebook https://lnkd.in/dV9u8CXU #ElectronicsIndustry #Moldova #MEF2024

Single crystal diamond is rapidly scaling in size which lends itself to rapid development of device related technologies.
We're proud to announce our new three-year, two-phase contract with DARPA to develop ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors (UWBGS) using diamond and aluminum nitride technology. "This is a significant step forward that will once again revolutionize semiconductor technology," said Colin Whelan, president of Advanced Technology at Raytheon. These groundbreaking materials promise enhanced power delivery and thermal management for sensors and electronics. UWBGS will enable the creation of ultra-compact, high-power RF switches, limiters, and amplifiers, operating effectively in extreme environments. Learn more: https://rtxcorp.co/3zJjGTO

The recent news about Nexperia’s Newport factory closing and Coherent’s UK site in Newton Aycliffe stopping orders really struck a chord with me. These closures, highlighted in The Telegraph, aren’t just business challenges – they’re affecting our national defence and the thousands of people who rely on these industries. Coherent’s chips, which have been crucial for Leonardo’s radar systems and Eurofighter Typhoon jets, are no longer being produced due to the loss of a key contract with Apple. Hundreds of employees have already been laid off, and the future of the plant is hanging in the balance. It’s hard to overstate how disruptive this is, not just for defence, but for the entire UK tech ecosystem. At Comtek Network Systems we’ve always focused on sustainability – on repairing and refurbishing equipment to extend its life and avoid unnecessary waste. Now, with these supply chain challenges, that approach feels more important than ever. We need to support industries like defence, where we simply can’t afford downtime or disruption. This situation has reminded me why I’m so passionate about what we do at Comtek. We’re here to help keep things running smoothly, no matter the external challenges. It’s not just about fixing equipment – it’s about keeping vital sectors like defence strong and secure. #Defence #MicrochipShortage #Nexperia #Coherent #Technology #Sustainability #BritishIndustry #SupplyChainResilience #supplychain #repair #circularEconomy #comtek https://lnkd.in/eVzaFfkh
