The article below states that between $1.50 and $1.46 million dollars (at minimum) are needed in order for a single person to comfortably be able to live in retirement in America. So basically this article is saying that a retired couple would need to have saved $3,000,000 in order to live comfortably in retirement. My initial thought is that it’s not a realistic figure and not an attainable figure for most people. Thoughts ?

The amount of retirees is up a whopping 8️⃣0️⃣% from just 6 months ago according to The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. This is interesting news given workers’ confidence in having enough money to live comfortably throughout retirement plummeted last year to the lowest rate since the Great Depression. Are jumps in 401K balances to blame? Bank of America found that balances rose 15 percent year-over-year to an average of $86,280 in 2023 (up from $75,045 at the end of 2022).
