There are people for whom passions cannot always turn into a successful career. 📌Many of them choose to experience several types of jobs and fields in order to establish their career path. This is one of the reasons why we have many colleagues who joined SG GSC to experience a field that is not necessarily very familiar to them - the financial area. 📣Among them is our colleague Marinela Hoha, Accounts Payable, within our Finance Shared Service Center. In an era where talent is the foundation of success, assurance, tax, and consulting service providers are facing significant challenges in acquiring new talent. Despite the constant inflow of accounting, finance, and other related disciplines graduates, there is a noteworthy shift in employment preferences, with many graduates choosing a different path from the traditional one, working in an audit firm. This trend, observed by industry experts, raises a substantial question: 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲, 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀? To understand more about Cyprus Gen Z expectations, RSM Cyprus Ltd, in collaboration with students from the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Management Science at the Cyprus University of Technology, conducted academic research in 2024 titled "𝐂𝐲𝐩𝐫𝐮𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐧 𝐙 - 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬". The academic research examines how students in #Accounting and #Finance and other related disciplines select their profession and the firm they will cooperate with, as well as how firms in the professional service sector, #ICPAC member firms, choose new talents for collaboration in the Cyprus market. We are excited to present some of the most important conclusions and insights from our most recent survey on the requirements and expectations of Generation Z with reference to their future employment and careers. We were able to acquire insightful information about the expectations, preferences, and aspirations of the Gen Z generation with regard to their preferred employers and career routes by means of our extensive survey. The survey's findings not only help us understand this generation better, but they also provide important direction for the creation of new plans and programs. These results will act as a starting point for additional conversations and industry decision-making procedures. This information, in my opinion, will be crucial for coordinating our strategies to satisfy the changing demands and expectations of the Gen Z workforce. Committee for Members in Industry & Business is organising a Placement Drive, Career Ascent, for experienced Chartered Accountants. I discovered that the eligibility conditions exclude any member with a full-time COP. It seems unfair to shut the door on experienced CAs with COP, by the parent body, who might be looking for a change in their career path. There shouldn't be such a restriction on at least applying for the placement drive if a member chooses to do so. The Professional code of ethics and conduct has ample checks for CAs in employment concerning COP, which must be adhered to. Is this correct, or am I missing something? If anyone can, they must bring this to the attention of the appropriate personnel.
