As system leader for local audit, the FRC welcomes the Government's tabling of legislation in Parliament on the 9 September 2024 to address significant delays in local authority audits. Tranche 2 of the reforms introduced in the State Parliament today. A key reform introduced is to widen the scope of audit committees to 'audit, risk and improvement committees' (ARIC), with an independent chairperson, who can be shared with smaller local governments. This is a key governance improvement and much needed in this sector. https://lnkd.in/gN5kabEK
