Building a community of certified chairs and advisory professionals whose purpose and values align with the problem solving needs of business.
Fascinating to read about the different use cases and their #impact. This one is all about investment #stewardship. #betteradvisoryboards
HOW CAN ADVISORY BOARDS SUPPORT INVESTMENT STEWARDSHIP? The OECD highlighted that institutional investors owned 43% of global market capitalisation of listed companies. This has implications for corporate governance in regard to investment, ethics in concentration of ownership, cross border investment protocols and good stewardship of other peoples’ money just to name a few. Advisory board structures, such as Responsible Investment Committees, are utilised within these governance systems to support and fulfil quality investment stewardship activities. In this exploration of advisory board use cases, Certified Chair Michael E. Drew, PhD, an expert in investment governance and stewardship, calls attention to the value of best practice advisory boards for institutional investors. He emphasises the importance of alignment between investors and investees in a complex and expanding investment landscape. SFDR has served an important early role in helping investors make informed decisions relating to sustainable investment in the EU, but there is a need to re-engage investors and re-design the SFDR regime to allow it to achieve its full potential. We outline the ways in which policymakers could consider bringing together streamlined disclosure with a voluntary categorisation regime, fostering rigorous investor due diligence and simultaneously creating a simpler and more consumer-friendly regime to support sustainable investment. We are pleased to publish our Review of our activities in 2023 here - https://lnkd.in/e_Bxn6rC This year's review marks a decade of engaging to create long term solutions and enhance value. The Forum is resolute in its commitment to elevating stewardship to the core of investment decision making and to addressing pressing concerns. In the midst of the debate regarding London's status as a global financial hub, the Investor Forum acknowledges the shifting dynamics and the Review identifies 3 key issues which can contribute to a more vibrant and valuable capital market: · The need to reimagine stewardship · The importance of reconnecting the investment chain · The creation of an Investor and Issuer Forum The efforts to reform the market are beginning to take shape, and the proposed package of reforms is wide ranging. There is unlikely to be consensus around the value of all the proposed changes, but it is important that the very best ideas gain traction. The time for analysis and reflection is over - it is time to move forward with conviction to put in place the conditions that can underpin a vibrant and valuable listed equity market. ISF is most honoured to host Helena Viñes Fiestas of the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance to provide her insights on important new global developments in sustainable finance, and what it all means for Canada. She will be joined by a stellar panel including Matteo Bigoni of Climate Bonds Initiative and Susan Thompson of TD Securities, moderated by ISF Advisory Board member Andrea Moffat ICD.D of Addenda Capital. 📅 Register now to join us on Jan. 15 at 12pm EST: https://lnkd.in/gSsB9rBA While business and finance await certainty on climate-related disclosure regulations and a sustainable finance taxonomy in Canada, the rest of the world is not slowing down. Canadian companies could find themselves “playing defence” on new regulations in jurisdictions where they operate, such as the European Union's Taxonomy and disclosure requirements. Our expert panel will cover what Canadian companies need to know about what's happening globally, and what Canadian regulators and standards setters can do to set Canada’s own course for financing the economic transition to net zero emissions. #taxonomy #sustainablefinance #disclosures

The Principles for Responsible Investment has joined 15 of Australia’s most influential organisations representing business, finance and shareholders to support the passage of the Australian Government's Climate Reporting Bill. Together we represent over 900 companies, investors with over AU$80 trillion assets under management, 7.7 million retail shareholders and over 80,000 directors, senior executives, accountants and other business professionals. This joint statement is unprecedented in the scope and breadth of support for a climate reporting framework. It demonstrates the scale of agreement across the broad spectrum of economic participants that such a framework is essential to Australia’s international competitiveness. We look forward to working with the Australian Government, national standard setters and each other to support the implementation of this regime.
