Earth Day 2024: Remembering the light within us Happy 54th Earth Day! Earth Day, born in 1970, is now older than 85% of the world’s population. 54 years from now is 2078. What do you want the generation that commemorates Earth Day in 2078 to say about our generation? Sustainability Leaders and Aspiring Sustainability Leaders, it’s your time. It’s time to remember the light within you, and to reflect on the legacy you want to leave. Today, first and foremost, I offer you gratitude for your commitment and persistence. I invite you to acknowledge yourselves, for this profession is notorious for forgetting to do that. I also invite you to reflect on how you are doing. The data says 50% of impact professionals are burnt out. My conversations with you all tell me that number is likely conservative. You are critical. Your well-being is vital. So, take a pause. Do something good for yourself. And then, find a moment to consider: 🌍 How are you doing?  🌎 Is the light within you shining bright? 🌏 What does remembering your light, and doing good with more joy, ease, and simplicity look like for you? Heading to Oslo in a few weeks to speak at this really exciting summit by Sustainability Hub Norway (S-HUB). I will talk about how our Strategic Foresight praxis at Manyone can help organizations tackle a huge and important agenda like sustainability in an innovative and collaborative way. As I said in a pre-interview: "I am very inspired by how the approach to sustainability is opening up these days. I see a much more multi-faceted and nuanced praxis emerging that integrates and connects different disciplines. It seems like we are co-designing this new approach just these days, which is why I find it valuable and important to participate at the S-HUB Summit”.

Do you know the feeling, when you log out for some holiday, and you leave the office with the feeling of having accomplished what you intended and that you really deserve your days off? That was my feeling today and I decided to celebrate it with some ice cream. You need to celebrate those moments of feeling satisfied with your work every now and then. 🌟 Let’s take a moment to celebrate the delightful synergy between sustainability and joy. 🌟 This photo is from when I met a full room of egg producers when we, Håkan Burlin and Erik Pettersson, presented Stjärnäggs new sustainability strategy and I was just having a great time. After my presentation, a man approached me and said "this was so joyful and I feel so inspired". This warmed my heart completely as I really believe in the power of joy and what it inspires us to do in our lives and in accelerating local and global sustainability. Here are some thoughts on the topic: 🌎 Purposeful Impact: Sustainability isn’t just about ticking boxes or following trends; it’s about weaving purpose into the fabric of our organizations. Why I Left the CEO Role for Sustainability 🌱 At the end of July, I stepped down from my role as CEO of SpeakSmart after several exciting years of helping people master the art of rational communication, critical thinking, and impactful presentations. Together with my incredible team, we transformed complex ideas into clear, actionable strategies—turning conversations into tangible results. As rewarding as the journey was, I’ve realised that clear communication alone can’t solve one of the most pressing issues of our time—our planet’s future. So, I’ve decided to channel my passion for driving meaningful change into the field of sustainability. Starting this fall, I’ll be pursuing a Master’s in Sustainable Business & Innovation at EADA Business School in Barcelona 🌱. Why the switch? In my years at SpeakSmart, I’ve seen how effective communication drives progress—but to truly make an impact, we need more than words. We need sustainable solutions, and fast. That’s why I’m excited to dig into the world of sustainable business practices and help shape organisations that are ready to meet the challenges of a low-carbon, greener economy. Thank you to everyone at SpeakSmart for the unforgettable experiences and to the clients and partners who trusted us to help them communicate more effectively. I’m now ready for the next challenge and can’t wait to make a difference in the sustainability space.
