The Sustainable Wine Roundtable's Bottle Weight Accord is a voluntary collaboration in which signatories commit to reducing the average 750ml still wine bottle weight to below an average of 420 grammes by the end of 2026. That, more or less, is about 25% carbon saving on every bottle. The SWR Bottle Weight Accord now has 15 retailer and other signatories with many more wine businesses, from retailers to producers, currently in the process of joining. Soon we will be at a billion bottles committed. We recently hosted a webinar on why companies should join, here: https://lnkd.in/dUzqSrFq If you don't have time for that, listen to a short podcast on the process and outcomes, here: https://lnkd.in/d5QAvaMA

I produce Climate Influence | Host, #LivingChange #podcast | Bloomberg Green Champion 2024 | NYC Plant-Powered Carbon Challenge Ambassador | Speaker/Interviewer/Moderator for hire | Excited to #HatchANewWorld
The latest #EatForThePlanet #podcast episode with Nil Zacharias is a must-listen if forwarding a #plantbased #foodsystems #foodpolicy transition is on your mind. He shares deep insight from his perspective as a food sector insider, and sings my tune on the importance of "vibes." It is the core of what I am talking about as INFLUENCE in the climate space. As well - you don't necessarily yell about the climate implications of riding a bike for local transportation, but you are seen biking - and that connects with building trust for climate acting policies. You don't necessarily yell about being vegan / plant-based but you DEMONSTRATE that lifestyle subtly, thereby connecting dots that build trust for climate acting food policy. Here's a quote from this fabulous episode: "In the world we live in, you have to lead with vibes first, condition your audience, establish trust - and then, and only then, will they be more receptive to hearing you out on the deeper issues." Have YOU built a visible leadership platform that has laid the VIBES groundwork (whether in terms of plant-based / altprotein marketing of the bigger picture of influencing your fellow leaders/peers/competitors to act on climate)? Message x Delivery mechanism (vibe) = IMPACT !! I will dig in on this from my #ClimateInfluence angle in my next Substack newsletter audio post. Thanks again, Nil, for the nudge to deeper thinking. You are ON to something and I hope the sector takes a cue. #Food #ClimateAction #Leadership #ClimateWeekNYC #Messaging #Communications

Shaking things up in the Food industry by helping foodies to be more confident and speak up | Fearless Foodies ®️ Founder | Oh for Food's Sake Podcast Host | Championing Women in Food
In Episode 134 of the Oh For Food's Sake podcast, released yesterday, we delved into the world of sustainability in the ready-meal industry. Charlie underlines the importance of balancing product recommendations with production capacities while impacting consumer choices. **Utilise Available Data to Drive Business Decisions** Smaller businesses should leverage epos data and conduct gap analyses even with limited resources to stay competitive. Use consumer behavioural data from sources like Cantor and sales data from epos to complement each other for a more comprehensive understanding of the market. Analyse market performance regularly and stay updated with industry data to plan effectively and make informed decisions regarding product placement and shopper behaviour influences. **Foster Sustainable Practices in Product Development** Aim to minimise packaging and reduce food waste by considering recyclability and developing ready meals that you can freeze to extend their shelf life. Stay informed about environmental impact and strive to balance convenience with sustainability, exploring options like compostable packaging and facilitating consumer education on proper disposal. Work with stakeholders across the supply chain to collaborate on reducing carbon footprints—consider adopting a "carbon share" approach that shows the environmental impact of products alongside their market share. **Emphasise Continuous Learning and Adaptability in Category Management** As a category manager, consistently upgrade your skills to influence sustainability initiatives effectively. Knowledge in evaluating carbon emissions at the product level can be particularly impactful. Stay adaptable to legislative changes and evolving consumer demands that push for greater sustainability. Recognise your influence as a category manager on the short-term and long-term industry landscape and your essential role in shaping consumer choices towards healthier and more sustainable options. Vitta Un Nuevo Estilo de Vida | Circular Economy Innovation | Avocado Distribution | Sustainability Enthusiast | Ripeness Checker & Dry Matter Technology for avocado
"The Magic is You: Unlocking Sustainable Avocado Distribution" Friends, I recently had a transformative experience listening to an episode of the "Show Me Your Magic" podcast. The host's message resonated deeply with me and made me reflect on the incredible power each of us holds to create change. 🙌 As I ruminate on this idea of "the magic is you," I can't help but see the parallels to the challenges facing the avocado industry. For too long, we've been beholden to outdated distribution methods and inefficient supply chains that lead to staggering food waste. But the magic to transform this - it lies within us. 🥑✨ The courage to leave behind what is no longer serving us is the same courage that will unlock innovative solutions to minimize avocado loss. Standardizing packaging, optimizing logistics, and leveraging technology - these are the steps that can revolutionize avocado distribution. But the magic to make it happen? That's you. 💪 Each of us, as avocado industry professionals, consumers, and stewards of the planet, holds the power to drive this change. By believing in our collective ability to create a more sustainable future, we open the door to remarkable possibilities. 🌍🌱 The magic isn't something external that we need to chase - it's an innate part of who we are. When we tap into that wellspring of courage, creativity, and conviction, we can transform the avocado supply chain, reduce food waste, and cultivate a more equitable, environmentally-conscious industry. 🌟 So let us embrace the magic within. Let us have the audacity to reimagine what's possible. The path forward may be uncertain, but I know that with you - yes, you - as the driving force, we can achieve remarkable things. 🚀 The magic is you. Now let's get to work. 👏 #AvocadoIndustry #FoodWaste #Sustainability #SupplyChainInnovation #BusinessTransformation #InnerMagic #Courage #VittaUnNuevoEstiloDeVida #SelfLove #InnerMagic #PersonalTransformation #InspirationalPodcast #ShowMeYourMagic #PersonalGrowth #EmotionalWellBeing #UnconditionalLove #DailyReflection #InnerStrength

Don’t just follow trends; be the anomaly. I’m not entirely sure what I’ve done to deserve the incredible support and knowledge I’ve received from so many of you recently, but I’m deeply grateful. Your recommendations for books, podcasts, chats, webinars, and events have been invaluable to my journey. I like to think of you all as my special angels, guiding me and expanding my understanding. My mission, now, is to share this knowledge with even more people. The latest broadcast one of you shared with me provided clarity on the current state of the wine industry. It made me realize that we often conform to societal norms because it feels “normal.” However, society often tries to control us, and to be considered normal, we must accept this control. If we merely follow trends in the wine industry, we’re not offering anything new or different. To truly innovate and bring fresh perspectives, we must dare to be different. We must embrace the freedom to be our true selves. Our uniqueness is not only acceptable but something to be celebrated. Each of us brings a distinct perspective and set of experiences to the table, and it's this diversity that enriches our lives and communities. Being different isn't just fine—it's essential. It fuels creativity, drives innovation, and helps us grow as individuals and as a society. Let's champion our differences and encourage others to do the same, recognizing that authenticity and individuality are the true sources of strength and progress. So, the question is: Do you want to be a trend follower or an anomaly? Who truly makes a difference? Those who do the same things don’t change anything. Be the anomaly that challenges the status quo and makes a real impact. Let's build a society of anomalies together!
