🇪🇺🇺🇦 Civitta & EU4Business: Helping Ukrainian Exporters Enter EU Markets Within the EU4Business programme with funding from the European Union and the German Government, the #Export Accelerator: Plan2Action has been launched. The initiative is implemented by Civitta in collaboration with GIZ. The project is designed to support Ukrainian small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), graduates of previous export consulting projects. 📌 As a result of the war, one-third of Ukrainian exporters have been affected, and 17% have ceased operations entirely. They often encounter challenges such as finding customers, understanding the nuances of the EU market, establishing efficient logistics, and navigating the EU certification process. The Accelerator is designed to help them tackle these obstacles and support Ukrainian SMEs with export plan implementation. 🧰 50 Ukrainian SMEs have been select to participate in a hands-on acceleration program with practical workshops, individual consultations and matchmaking activities with EU partners over a three-month period. They will have a valuable opportunity to implement export plans—or key elements of them—developed during prior consulting projects. Participants will also benefit from specialized consulting services, targeted technical assistance, and the chance to establish connections with potential partners in the EU. Reference information: The international cooperation programme “EU4Business: SME Recovery, Competitiveness and Internationalisation” is co-financed by the European Union and the German Government and is implemented by the German federal company “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH”. The discussions centred on boosting foreign direct investment (FDI) and reinforcing Dong Nai’s position as a competitive business hub. 👉🏼 Ziehe highlighted that Dong Nai is a key destination for German investment projects. “Our members are involved in a variety of industries in Dong Nai. With ZIEHL-ABEGG SE, Pearl Polyurethane Systems, and Viessmann, the province has attracted several renowned German foreign-invested projects within the last 12 months. Furthermore, the province has been home to several well-established projects for many years, including Bosch, Schaeffler, Bayer, Neumann Kaffee Gruppe (NKG), FRIWO, and framas,” he said. 💬 He also added, “This proves the attractiveness of Dong Nai as an FDI destination for German investors. Thanks to strategic factors such as its easy connectivity to seaports and airports and well-developed infrastructure, investors choose Dong Nai as their base in Vietnam.” 🗝️ The GBA identified several critical areas and recommends the following actions to increase the attractiveness of Dong Nai. First, the province should simplify processes for licensing, customs, environmental approvals, work permits, and regulatory approvals to reduce delays for foreign enterprises. Fully digitalise administration and significantly reduce paperwork using digital tools. 🛣️ GBA also proposed that Dong Nai improve transport infrastructure, particularly road and logistics networks, to facilitate movement between Dong Nai, industrial zones, and major ports, particularly Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway and Ring Road No.3. 🧲 Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People's Committee Vo Van Phu conveyed Dong Nai’s commitment to revamping its industrial landscape, transforming traditional industrial parks into smart ones, and constructing a comprehensive regional transport network. The province is keen on attracting FDI for sustainable practices, focusing on renewable energy, a green economy, and a circular economy. "Long Thanh International Airport will be put into operation phase 1 in Dong Nai by 2026. This project will create development momentum for Dong Nai and the entire southern key economic region." 📍 At present, Dong Nai is home to 12 projects run by German enterprises with an investment of over $273 million. https://lnkd.in/g5EbiraV

In view of the upcoming EU Entry-Exit System (#EES), the Chamber hosted John Keefe of Getlink and Doug Bannister of Port of Dover for a webinar on its upcoming implementation and impact on cross-border travel and trade. They discussed: ✅ Streamlining entry/exit processes through investment: Eurotunnel, for example, has invested €80 million in new technology to create a 'smart border' in time for the introduction of the EES, set for 10 November 2024. ✅ Operational challenges and opportunities, such as using AI modelling to reduce the impact on the flow of goods and people by mapping traffic flows, building new set ups and stress testing 'digital twin' set ups. ✅ Minimising delays for travellers and goods: checks are predicted to increase in time from 90 seconds to 2 minutes for EU citizens, and 6m30s for third-country nationals - a gap both organisations are looking to reduce. Thank you to both Doug and John for meeting the Chamber today, as well as Fergus McReynolds, Co-Chair of our Trade Facilitation Committee, for moderating the discussion.
