Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is organising its third global hackathon – ‘HaRBInger 2024' This hackathon is focused at developing technology tools to curb financial frauds and enhance the inclusivity of financial services. The hackathon, themed "Innovation for Transformation," invites participants to devise solutions under two main categories: 1. Zero Financial Frauds: a) Real-time prediction, detection, and prevention of fraud using alternative data sources. b) Ensuring anonymity in token-based (CBDC) transactions while maintaining system integrity. c) Identifying mule bank accounts or payment wallets. 2. Being Divyang Friendly: Developing tools for visually impaired individuals to accurately identify banknotes. Participants will have the opportunity to be mentored by industry experts and present their solutions to a distinguished jury. Winners in each problem statement category will receive INR 40 lakh, with an additional INR 20 lakh prize for the best all-woman team. Each shortlisted team will also receive a stipend of INR 5 lakh to develop their prototype. Registration began on June 7, 2024.
