For many families, living paycheck to paycheck and constantly facing the uncertainty of unexpected emergencies is their normal. But what if we all took a closer look and asked ourselves how we can make a difference by doing just one small thing? Imagine the impact we could have on our neighbors, family members, friends, and colleagues. What if that one small thing we all did was coming together to strengthen the safety net resources provided by nonprofits? Whether it's making a small donation or volunteering our time, these acts of unity can make a world of difference. You'd be amazed at how one small gesture can prevent a potential spiral and set the stage for a NEW normal in people's lives. By leaning in closer and providing collective support, we can open the door to a NEXT normal, where individuals and families have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. Let's join forces and create a better future for everyone, one small act of kindness at a time. Unite with Us at United Way of Greater St. Louis #Donate #volunteer #helpingpeople

County leaders may limit how much money they give to nonprofit groups and projects serving low-income neighborhoods in light of looming budget challenges. The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors today is considering capping community spending per district at $1 million, but potentially raising the ceiling to $2 million for districts with greater need, such as District 2. The county’s technical term for such spending is “inventory items.” During the budget process, supervisors can propose one-time funds related to various community programs. 5 QUESTIONS WITH A JCF PARTNER: FAMILIES TOGETHER 1. When was your nonprofit established? Families Together was founded in 1980 by a small group of individuals from Lutheran Churches who came together to address a concern for families in crisis. 2. What are you just bursting to share about your nonprofit? Our non-profit is filled with dedicated professionals at every level who deeply share a belief that every family deserves a home, and children should never worry about where they will sleep at night. 3. Tell us about your logo or how your nonprofit's name originated. Our logo seeks to engender hope and opportunity. At the center is a handprint of a 6-year-old child who participated in our program from 2015-16. 4. How does your nonprofit care for the unhoused? Every family receives stable housing and wrap-around services to help them achieve financial security, employment, improved education and health, and increased earning capacity. 5. What is your favorite fact or statistic regarding your nonprofit's work? We are so proud that approximately 94% of families we house graduate after holding a lease in their own names for a year. #partnerspotlight #jcf #LoveandJustice

I learned a very important lesson in my last nonprofit role. The stories I wrote about the people with whom we worked were powerful. But nothing was more powerful than giving those same people the chance to share their own experience through their own words. Give your community a voice. Give them agency to own their lived experience and share it firsthand. Steward stories like you steward donors. Make these connection points the foundation upon which trust is built. And turn these into building blocks that stack over time.

I sat down with Hillel Berg a few weeks ago to discuss the #emailmarketingstrategy for nonprofits. One of the key takeaways Hillel offered was how important it is to write an email that speaks to the individual you are sending to. The more personal you are with your communication the greater success rate you will have. But don't take my word for it, listen to Hillel 😁 #nonprofitmarketing #nonprofitleadership #donorengagement
