PARTICIPATORY APPROACH TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT The power that lies in involvement of the key beneficiaries & stakeholders of developmental initiatives in rural communities from needs assessment phase, planning, implementation & Evaluation ( Entire lifecycle of a project) should never be overlooked. Multitudes of interventions have failed dismally due to lack of ownership,participation and commitment by communities involved from the grassroots level. May implementing institutions pay necessary attention to this in order to enhance sustainability, longevity, ownership and relevance of planned interventions in rural communities. We're excited to highlight the growing importance of Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) in urban #planning and #development. Recent findings show that 64% of local authorities in England that have updated their local plan since 2023, now require HIAs for certain projects. This emphasises the role of health in creating higher #socialvalue communities. An excellent example is Ashfield District Council's new local plan, which includes a policy mandating HIAs for developments of 50+ dwellings, as well as a whole policy dedicated to creating social value.
