International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP)’s Post

Interprofessional collaboration should be standard practice to ensure high quality health services, says a new FIP statement of policy published today. The new policy on interprofessional collaborative practice (IPC) sets out recommendations to a number of stakeholders, including governments, academia and pharmacists. These include that governments should establish professional regulatory systems and processes (including for quality assurance measures and scopes of practice that facilitate effective collaborations). “Effective ICP can lead to improved access to health interventions, reduced burnout among healthcare professionals and better health outcomes,” said Luís Lourenço, co-chair of the policy committee and FIP professional secretary.
