Like many others, I've been wrestling with the Double Materiality Assessment. Yes it’s new (for EFRAG), and yes it’s complicated. But the official documentation doesn’t make it any easier. There are no hard thresholds for materiality, there is no gold standard for stakeholder engagement, and perhaps most importantly - there are no working examples. The EFRAG – the organization behind the CSRD and Double Materiality guidelines – has barely shared useful examples that companies can use to give shape to all the complex lingo. This doesn’t help companies already overwhelmed with the floodwave of upcoming regulations coming their way. Will it be a waiting game until the first organizations start publishing their Double Materiality Assessments under CSRD? Or until the auditors come forward with hard requirements? I hope not. P.s. Depending on your circumstances, the PPSA can be both a sword and a shield. As a sword, it can help you secure money owed to you and improve your prospects of recovery.
