Do not be fooled. The scarcity technique is like a double-edged sword. It can work wonders only if wielded at the right time and with the right strategy. Before implementing scarcity, it's crucial to establish a strong presence in the market. Your brand should be recognizable, reproducible, and omnipresent. Without this foundation, scarcity can backfire, snuffing out interest rather than igniting it. I often see small and medium-sized businesses attempting to deploy scarcity tactics prematurely. They still need to build a solid presence, but they're already trying to create a sense of scarcity. Scarcity is something to consider only after you've firmly established your presence in the market. If you pull back too soon, you risk fading into obscurity instead of commanding respect. It's not about disappearing—it's about strategically stepping back to create anticipation and demand. And to creatives, timing is everything. Before you employ the scarcity technique, ensure the brand has an established presence - a strong reputation. On Earth Day, as I sat on a flight home 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐲 a documentary film called 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨. You must see this film! 🔸 It is the story of an entrepreneur, Ray Anderson, who founded a company that became a global leader in carpet tiles. 🌎 It is his story of "a spear in the chest" moment when he realized how his company was impacting the Earth. 🌲 It is a story of a complete transformation of a fossil fuels based supply chain to one that is now carbon neutral. ⛰ It is a story of a bold vision and leadership. 🐊 It is a story of innovation and human ingenuity, inspired by nature. You can 100% predict injuries. How an athlete moves depends entirely on what he or she is moving; i.e. their individual capacities and abilities. This unique way of moving is called their ‘motor preference’ – their preferred motor strategy. If we know what this strategy is for each athlete, we can finally move past group-based norms, and focus on how to coach the individual; using not just our subjective experience, but also objective data to guide us. So what’s this got to do with Motion-IQ, you ask? Well, quite simply, if you coach athletes who run, the only way we can accurately determine their motor preference is to measure how they run. While force platforms and other technologies, such as the VALD Nordboard, provide great information on athlete’s individual differences, they are proxies to the strategy that really matters: how they actually run on the field of play. Through understanding how your players move, you can better prescribe their loading strategies, predict potential injury sites, and guide their return-to-play programs.
