As I’m getting to know the folks that I serve, I often hear a laundry list of labels that they have received over the years that they have learned to use as identities. While the DSM does have its place in our insurance run society and it can have benefits in creating standards of care, at what cost are we receiving those benefits? When the folks that we are trying to help begin identifying as the label that pays us for our services, that is harmful and negates the real and challenging experiences that folks are living. As providers we can also become brainwashed by the labels and fail to see the harm that they can do. Social work as a profession functions on the person in environment model, this means that we need to look at that person as a person and not as a label.

Today on Chacruna Institute we have "The First Applications of LSD-25 in South America (1954-1959)" by Hernan Scholten and Gonzalo Salas. The first LSD experiments in South America in the 1950s were carried out similarly to those in the United States, assimilating into the European psychiatric tradition. Looking at the first publications in Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Perú, Venezuela, and Uruguay, that appeared between 1954 and 1959, Hernán Scholten and Gonzalo Salas argue that it is possible to detect some general features of LSD research at the time. The US is in violation of this basic human right. We let CMS Behavioral Health leaders publish about solutions for mental Health Affairs which they and other CMS leaders have caused. You cannot integrate, coordinate, or outreach well in 2621 counties involving 40% of the nation's population packed with 45% of mental health and other complex needs. The design shapes only about 25% of each workforce for these counties which is stretched further by less than 20% of spending across each of primary care, mental health, womens health, and basic surgical. Only 15% of psychiatrists and geriatricians and child psych and geri psych are found in these counties. Primary care is stretched to cover deficits of workforce as well as deficits in public health and social supports. All of the COVID and other disasters natural and manmade impact 2621 counties more. CMS designs involving cuts and higher costs of delivery are a disaster. Studies are indicate deficits of literacies, bandwidth, digital, and virtual capabilities. These limit the innovative designs pushed out as solutions. More and better delivery team members is the solution, but is denied by financial design.

Great example of how we get from science to practice. The achievements of the Stanford NeuroChoice Initiative. This project started eight years ago to help understand how people make choices, especially those struggling with addiction. The initiative connects scientists from different fields, such as biology, psychology, and public policy. By doing this, they made faster progress in finding better ways to treat addiction. And this is leads to new treatments and better policies for addiction. I think this should be a model for other areas of research as well. It would sure help the marketing practice.

"individuals certainly make choices, but they do so within historical and structural contexts not of their making" Some cultures, within cultures, are developing better awareness of amelioration, as prospective thinking is often better than cure. What was offered2many in history caught in the horns and heft of suspicion and tragedy was too instrumentalist cognitive measures with weak and ungrounded grasp of interface as task. Pride is bidirectional and shame. Some migratory flows of world citizens from inordinate displacement and wars, are experiencing unimaginable boarding out and even hostility and lower 'skilled' groups often come from very traditional cultures and subservient ideas on status expectations, where employees are exploited, often just grateful, while living in awful and noisy conditions. The tenor of below is very decent to help decentre adversity and to prevent escalation of comorbid, that add further insult, in a very uneven world.
