We are in the final days of collecting your views about what is missing from the support landscape in mid to later career, before we start to put some ideas together to share with the world. If you are in the second half of your career & have yet to complete our survey please do so by the end of March. It does take about 20 minutes or so, but we've had heaps of feedback that the process itself is thought-provoking and helpful. https://lnkd.in/gMJtx6e2

Job Seekers - thank you notes are still wildly powerful and set you apart. Don't skip this step, even though I know you're rightfully weary of the state of employment. We've been interviewing therapists-in-training for our team at Healthy Minds NYC so we can expand our therapy services to clients who need lower-cost care. It's staggering how few interviewees take the time to send a follow-up message. Storytime: when I landed my first job at Heart Magazines, I'll never forget how my new bosses talked about receiving my thank you notes for weeks after I worked with them. They shared the story with what felt like every new colleague as they introduced me. 💡 Pro-tip: I interviewed with blank thank you cards in my purse. When the meeting was over, I stopped in the lobby to pause and write a meaningful (and specific) thank you to each of the three supervisors. Instead of mailing the cards, I stopped by the messenger room on the side of the building so the notes were hand-delivered to their desk within an hour. 🤯 Hiring me as an assistant was a no-brainer after that. 🤔 What do you all think? Are thank-you cards passé, and I'm showing my age?

Sales & Project Manager | Amplifying Product Perception, Transforming Narratives into Revenue Growth
The job search is tough - lengthy processes (7+ weeks on average), stiff competition, and a general "will they, won't they" malaise has permeated the process. So, I needed to shake a funk. Anyone else a fan of The Traitors? Cue my mother and I at a meet & greet with the one & only Janelle and "Bergalicious." Sometimes we need to completely step away to remember that the search doesn't define us, our worth, or our value in life. Now, Peacock can we get season three? #thetraitors #janelle&bergie #jobsearch2024 #knowyourworth

I am not my job title... As a matter of fact, when I'm not working, I really don't like talking about work. Yet, at work, I love talking about my life outside of work. Hypocritical? No, it goes back to not wanting to be defined by my job title. Not wanting to be seen as an employee number and title in a database. What about you? p.s. Photo of me and my son from many years ago not working. p.p.s. It would mean a great deal to me if you could support me in the following non-work related endeavor as well https://lnkd.in/gT2Gp9xs

Experienced Tech Leader | Infrastructure & Transformation Expert | Driving Success with Strategy & Hands-on Execution
I am curious about Glassdoor, have you ever written a review on there just for the sake of it? I firmly believe that only people who are negatively impacted by something will fill out an online survey. If you get what you expected you can't be bothered to review it but equally, if you got more than you were expecting you think perhaps your expectations were too low so once again, why bother to review it? So that leaves people who are negatively impacted filling out the survey and that makes the statistics a race for the bottom not a race to the top. Have you ever written anything for Glassdoor about being happy in a job?

For each of us - "What's our secret sauce?" What makes you YOU? I mean, this person here - he's ridiculously amazing at what he can do. What's your ridiculously amazing thing? It's hard to know because we're lousy judges of ourselves. But our friends can help us figure it out. Here's an exercise called "friend observations": You email 10 people close to you - at least 7 are former colleagues or people you've worked on projects with - and you say you're asking this as part of a project for yourself, and you ask them: 1. What am I AMAZING at? Really amazing at? 2. What's a STORY when you saw me do what I do really well? 3. What METRICS have I moved the dial on? #jobsearch This is an example of the type of exercise we run at our Job Search Institute. P.S. Would you answer such an email if a friend asked you these questions about them? Y/N

Struggling with Labor Day Blues? Do You Need That Job Reply? Answers: https://lnkd.in/g6SqPNhh #JobSearch #LaborDay #EmploymentJourney So, is anyone else out there sitting patiently through Labor Day, hoping for a response from a potential employer this week? It’s been nearly three weeks since I had my interview with the CFO, which was actually my fourth with the company. After our last chat, he hinted at meeting up to discuss the position further, mentioning he might be flying in the previous week. But, no word yet… and with Labor Day weekend here, it feels like any chance of a reply could be delayed until after the holiday. It’s a bit frustrating, isn’t it? 🥴 The waiting game can really take a toll on our nerves. Here are a few reasons why this kind of uncertainty hits hard: Endless Speculation: You start analyzing everything that was said during the interview, wondering if something went wrong. Did I miss the mark? 🤔 Time Pressure: The longer you wait, the more you feel the urgency to explore other opportunities. It’s hard not to feel like you’re in limbo. Emotional Rollercoaster: The excitement of a promising interview can quickly turn into anxiet...

We talk a lot at PageGroup about “changing lives”. Recruiters always remember their first placement – over a decade later, I still often think about mine. The candidate was elated to hear they'd been picked for the role. Aside from it being a fantastic position with a global pharmaceutical working on some really cool stuff, they burst into tears and then in true British fashion apologized for the wave of emotion and said “I’m so sorry, it’s just I’ve been out of a work for a while and you don’t know this but we were so, so, so, close to losing the house…” It's stuck with me forever. Landing a new role can be driven by so many reasons – career progression, securing greater flexibility, wanting to work with a better team/ boss. At the root of it all – paying the bills, providing for family, being part of a great collaborative work community and getting out of bed each morning with something purposeful to focus on. September 10th is World Suicide Prevention Day, an important reminder to check in on each other and to share details for anyone who might need them. The US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is open 24/7 at 988 and in the UK at 0800-689-5652. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #SupportEachOther #ChangingLives #PageGroup #JobSecurity #PurposefulWork #CommunitySupport
