Scammers continue to target Zions Bank clients using caller ID spoofing. Did you know that fraudsters can make any name or number show up on your caller ID in order to appear legitimate? That’s why it’s important not to simply trust your caller ID. If the caller asks for your username, password, email, account number, balances or RSA token information, hang up immediately. Then call a verified phone number (like the one on the back of your Zions Bank debit card or on the official Zions Bank website) or visit a local Zions Bank branch to report the incident. With the holidays approaching, scams will appear like snowflakes falling. Two good tips to protect your money in the digital world, are use a credit card as much as possible and just pay it back right away. If someone gets access to your credit card, they DO NOT have access to your whole bank account, and credit companies have better fraud protection. Or, get a second bank account with your bank and transfer money as you need it to that debit card. Then your main account is much safer. Finally, review your charges regularly for anything you don't recognize and alert the bank asap. Also, if you have a banking app on your phone, set alerts to tell you immediately a charge went through. This works really well and you will know right away if you are compromised.

IT Security Tip Of The Week: Set up bank alerts – NOW! Here’s a tip that just might save you a major headache: set up withdrawal alerts on your bank accounts. Many banks will send you an e-mail alert whenever money is withdrawn from your account via check, debit card, or transfer. Setting up those alerts will allow you to spot and report fraudulent activity BEFORE the money has already been siphoned into a cybercriminal’s hands.
