Let's talk member spotlight!! Cincinnatus was founded in 1885 and has remained a mutually owned and operated savings and loan. Unlike many other institutions, they strive to remain independent and not become part of a larger bank holding company. Being a mutually owned company means their depositors are their owners. At Cincinnatus, their seasoned officers and employees take pride in giving very personal service, like taking the time to sit down with their customers to get to know them and their individual financial needs. Their mission is simple. Cincinnatus focuses on their local community by offering lending, checking, and savings products that are competitive, easy to understand and designed to meet your needs, not theirs. Complimenting that is their very personal service that you have come to expect from your local community banker. In this world of business consolidation and large companies, the great customer service at Cincinnatus is very unique and an almost-lost quality that is difficult to find in most financial service providers today. At Cincinnatus, you will find value that is difficult to find elsewhere. From their very competitive rates and fees, to their highly seasoned long-term employees, and bank officers, to their absolute total dedication to very personalized customer service, you will notice a major difference at Cincinnatus. That’s how they have done business for 135 years and how they will continue to do business every day with every customer. Yes, Cincinnatus is extremely proud to show their support to their local communities. Whether it’s one of their banking officers or employees volunteering on a local board, sponsoring a neighborhood event or helping with a community project, they feel their involvement is critical to the communities they serve. Since all of their loan decisions are also made locally by their banking officers, you will find that’s another quality that is rare in today’s big bank world. Cincinnatus is fully insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation so your deposits have the full backing of the Federal government. So, you can rest assured that your money is safe and will be here when you need it. Now that you know who they are, stop in or call a Cincinnatus banking professional today at any of their three conveniently located offices. It really does make a difference when you do business locally. If given the choice between a local business or national business, I overwhelmingly choose local. If you're not banking with a community bank, lets grab coffee or lunch and see how we can change that! #communitybankingmonth #local
April is Community Banking month! West Michigan Community Bank serves local communities in Holland, Hudsonville, Zeeland, Jenison, Grand Rapids, and Cascade. Community banks are an integral part of Main Street; we reinvest local dollars back into our community and help create local jobs. Our relationship banking philosophy is ingrained in the way we conduct business, one loan—one customer—at a time. Local reinvestment helps small businesses grow and helps families finance major purchases and build financial security.

California State Treasurer, External Affairs - Northern CA Region | Empowering Economic Mobility Through State Initiatives | Advancing Equity in Education
Access to financial resources is essential for empowering individuals and communities, fostering economic growth, and promoting equity. Initiatives aimed at creating more inclusive banking systems are vital for leveling the playing field and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive. I support programs that address these challenges and help to bridge the gap. By investing in financial education, tailored banking services, and community engagement, we can build a more equitable financial landscape for all. Let’s continue to advocate for systemic change and uplift the voices that are often overlooked. Together, we can create a future where access to banking is a right, not a privilege. #FinancialInclusion #Equity #CommunityEmpowerment #BankingAccess
ICYMI “Creative solutions like CalAccount are essential to lifting up working families – especially those in underbanked Black, brown and immigrant communities. In fact, … CalAccount could put up to $3.1 billion back into the pockets of Californians annually and … generate a total of $5 billion in [economic] activity…” Read more about the CalAccount program and how it is designed to protect consumers from April Verrett and Felicia Wong in Capitol Weekly: https://lnkd.in/dYt6z5G3

🎯 "The American Dream shouldn’t come with a hidden agenda or unexpected fees." Yet, nearly 15 million families—predominantly Black, Hispanic and/or low-income—have limited formal access to the banking system, largely due to the rise of extractive fee schemes, from overdraft fees to insufficient funds fees. For Capitol Weekly, Roosevelt's President & CEO, Felicia Wong, and SEIU's President, April Verrett, argue for creative action to tackle this problem, specifically pointing to public banking options like #CalAccount as apt solutions. "Tackling generational poverty and closing the state’s widening wealth disparities will take bold, creative action. By implementing CalAccount, California can give working families access to their own hard-earned money without fees or penalties – infrastructure that is sorely needed to build an equitable, just, and inclusive California economy." Historically, community banking has been rooted in geography. That's changing. Fast. If you're like me, you used to have your go-to branch of a locally owned community bank down the street. The bank that had a vested interest in your town or city, and significant profits were reinvested into the community. Then, community banks started getting absorbed into big national banks, a trend I posted about a while back. 25 years ago, there were more than 10,000 banks in the United States. Today, it's more like 4,000. Your local branch up the street is now operated by a big out-of-town behemoth. And your deposits have likely left your community to be invested on Wall Street or in projects spanning the globe. I've committed my career to reversing that trend and helping re-establish community banks as a critical part of a healthy banking ecosystem. And I see an opportunity to succeed by building community banks that combine new technologies with a return to human-centric service We need to redefine what a community bank can be. We need to create a better way of banking for the 21st century. That's what we're working on at ATTY.
