This video is very cute. It's also a condensed version of what it's like to join a franchise system. This is a lot simpler than I thought. Kalani and I went on our first daddy-daughter date the other day. I had planned to ask some specific questions about how she’s feeling about the family, favorite activities, what she’s struggling with, how I can be a better dad for her. Similar to a check-in that Maria and I do or what I might do with an team member. She didn’t need that though. I asked what’s going well in her life. Her response: Kalani: “Daddy-daughter date.” Me: “What’s your favorite thing we’ve done as a family?” Kalani: “Spending time as a family.” Me: “Yeah I’m glad we’ve been able to spend time as a family. What’s your favorite single activity we’ve done as a family though?” Kalani: “Bungee jumping [at the mall].” Really?! That’s so simple. Of all the things we’ve done. That stands out as a top. I realized a few things from this conversation and the rest of our date together. She doesn’t need anything fancy or elaborate or anything near that. She just needs to feel loved and accepted. She just wants to spend time together, have fun, feel loved. We can all learn from Kalani - give more love, acceptance, presence and watch the connections grow.
