#militaryfamilies experience unique stresses - and develop unique #resilience. If you work with military or #veteranfamilies, read this blog about #militarylife and #militarychildren.
Military children experience unique psychological needs due to the challenges associated with their parent's service. While some challenges are universal (peer pressure, academic performance, family stressors), some challenges are unique to military families. It's Wellness Wednesday! 🌟 Today's topic will focus on Military Injury. 🔎 According to DHA Public Health, a military injury is a damage or interruption to normal body tissue function resulting from an energy transfer that exceeds tissue tolerance, either from a single event (acute trauma) or repetitive events (cumulative micro-trauma). Typically includes any physical harm, wound, or damage sustained by military personnel due to their service. This occurs during training, combat, or while performing non-combat work. 🤕 To prevent military injuries, focus on safety training, proper use of protective gear, fitness enhancement, ergonomic practices, and regular medical evaluations. #AMESKSU #AMESResearchCenter #KennesawStateUniversity #KSU #WellnessWednesday #MilitaryInjury #MilitarySupport #Wellbeing Kennesaw State University Research

Sam Grainger Counselling - I understand that it's sometimes difficult to take that first small step and you may be feeling nervous and apprehensive. My aim will be to help you feel comfortable.
The theme this month in @_folkfeatures was looking at grounding and breathing to help with panic and anxiety. Today, let’s look at the benefits of one technique. Box breathing is a particular breathing technique which works very well when you are starting to feel out of control. Box breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system, when your sympathetic nervous system starts to move into high alert. It helps your mind to slow down and reset itself, this aids relaxation, improves concentration, reduces feeling of panic and aids sleep. This technique is used by athletes and the armed forces, particularly the Navy SEALS who use this to help focus and stay calm in times of high stress. 2-4 minutes is ideal to practice this technique. #panicattacks #panic #stressmanagement #anxietyrelief
