A huge shout-out to the FirstBank team at our Windsor, Colorado location for coordinating a heartwarming surprise for customers Kelsey and Teresa Thomas. 🧡 Despite their challenges, the Thomas family has remained incredibly optimistic and well-deserving of an Act of Goodness. With FirstBank’s help, the team gifted Kelsey a Mickey Mouse blanket, a gift card for their Disney World trip, and $2,000 to help alleviate any financial burdens. Here’s what Teresa had to say, “The entire FirstBank team was absolutely wonderful to my daughter, Kelsey. They created an amazing memory for her in preparation for our family bucket list trip to Disney World in Florida. The kindness and support will not be forgotten. Our entire family is thankful and so appreciative of FirstBank and especially the Windsor branch staff. Thanks so much to Sara for coordinating a very beautiful moment for our daughter.” For more “Acts of Goodness” stories, visit https://bit.ly/4d1SttL.

Quick story worth the share. I was at Dollar Tree Stores, when I overheard a conversation between 2 ladies. I'm not one to typically jump in, but in this case, I did. The one lady mentioned that a family member was getting married soon and she was asking for advice about center pieces. I said to them, "I'm not trying to listen into your conversation. When you mentioned center pieces, I couldn't help myself but name drop my mother who has owned a catering business over many years and is currently in the process of selling her catering equipment as she just retired." The 3 of us continued a light hearted conversation and it was quite pleasant. The one lady, Jeanine Foster, CTS, asked me a few questions about my life to which I shared that I had a non profit where we help victims and survivors of abuse. Her eyes lit up and she was like, "Kelly, we need to talk." Generally, these days I'm more cautions about giving out my personal information but I thought I would start with my LI profile. I looked up her name and turns out I had previously reached out to her via LI to schedule a Zoom call, but for 1 reason or another it just didn't happen. We proceeded to exchange numbers, this picture was snapped, and we decided to follow through this time on that Zoom call to chat further. Turns out, we share close to 170 connections and had we not met in person at Dollar General, most likely we would not have discovered our shared interests, passions and values. We then extend our well wishes and end up running into each other 2 aisles over, then 3 aisles over, then in the checkout line. I don't believe in coincidences and this provided more time to chat. If that's not enough, we were both parked diagonal from each other in the parking lot, then both heading into Walmart at the same time to grab a couple more items. We kept laughing about the unexpected circumstance and knew that God was at the forefront of this situation. Needless to say, it was a beautiful reminder of how we can make new and unexpected friendships, just through the power of being vulnerable and saying "hi." I am reminded of a recent podcast I heard by Mel Robbins, about the power of getting outside of your comfort zone and trying new things. There is real power behind the word "Hello," being kind, smiling to a stranger in need of feeling seen, volunteering and giving back, showing love to those you take for granted and giving a hug to your elders. New friendships can be formed at the most unexpected times, and yes, even at the dollar store. 😇 May this story be a reminder that if you're feeling unseen and unheard, you have the power and ability to be seen and heard. The life you want is within reach and in your hands. Take massive action, get outside your comfort zone, say "Hi" today and you might just make a new friend like Jeanine. As a cautionary measure, not everyone deserves your hello, so be cautious and situationally aware. 🙌🧡

"Gratitude in Action: A Tale of Lost and Found 💳 A couple of days ago, a routine lunch outing turned into an unexpected adventure when I realized I had misplaced my credit card at Long Boat Brewing Co. Initially unaware of the loss, it was the barrage of transaction alerts that jolted me into action. With a quick call to the bank to block the card, I couldn't shake the feeling that it had slipped away amidst the brewery's bustling atmosphere. Enter Ashley, the manager at Long Boat Brewing Co., who embodied the true spirit of exceptional customer service. Upon reaching out, Ashley not only listened attentively but took immediate action. Spending the entirety of his evening tracing my lost card, he demonstrated unwavering dedication to resolving the situation. What truly amazed me was Ashley's commitment to going above and beyond. Not only did he track down the culprit responsible for the unauthorized transactions, but he also facilitated the transfer of the swiped amount back into my account. His swift and decisive actions not only alleviated my concerns but restored my faith in humanity's innate kindness. In a world often marred by negativity, encounters like these serve as poignant reminders of the goodness that exists. Ashley's selfless act of kindness reaffirms that genuine compassion and integrity still thrive amidst the chaos. 𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝟗-𝟓’𝐞𝐫𝐬 hope you’re doing great ? How is 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐚𝐱 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 taking you? 🤔 Mshahara week is past and responsibilities have kicked in. Mukuru needs vet cash for her cow, Mzee is also asking for a kaloan for his shop business. Kwanza he is thinking of expanding and introducing jackets, gumboots and umbrellas in addition to the retail stuff he usually sells, so that he can capture the market. Oh yes and his warus are not doing so well with this rainy weather they need a lot of dawa for frost protection. I could go on and on..there is a lot that you need to do for others and you also need to grow financially. What do you do? Here are my strategies towards navigating black tax: 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 Avoid giving your relatives the illusion that you have plenty and that you can resolve every financial problem that exists. This will put you in jeopardy. If you can, avoid committing to resolve a problem when you do not have a financial plan. You will create a strain between you and your relatives and also your wallet😅. 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐲 Have a sit down with your family and explain the financial situation you’re in. For example, it would be easier to let them know that you have more bills like student loans and therefore there is only a specific amount that you can spare. However, caution needs to be exercised. Some relatives are not so “understanding” and therefore it would be wise not to disclose all your financial information eg your pay. 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 Yes, have a budget for black tax. As you plan your finances have a limit for the amount that you can loan out. This way you'll avoid straining yourself. 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 So while you’re living on one meal in Nairobi , your relative in the village is drinking all the money you lent them😂. Sadly, not every one we love takes finances seriously, others will even bet on it. Be curious to follow up where necessary and ready to say NO to some people’s demands. 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 Make the money-making idea of your family sustainable (Amos Ngahu (The episode on Becoming CEO)). If you farm subsistently, start commercialising the produce. For example, the extra litres of milk your mom keeps for “guests” she could start selling at the milk processing plant. That means focusing on buying quality feed for her cow(s) etc. Investing in their idea means a time will come when they can be financially independent. Remember, most of our relatives gave up their financial freedom to give us a good life and now it is our turn. But we are wiser now, more financially aware. #BLACKTAX #𝖿𝗂𝗇𝖺𝗇𝖼𝗂𝖺𝗅𝗅𝗂𝗍𝖾𝗋𝖺𝖼𝗒 #𝗆𝗈𝗇𝖾𝗒𝗆𝖺𝗇𝖺𝗀𝖾𝗆𝖾𝗇𝗍 #𝟤𝟣𝖽𝖺𝗒𝗌𝗈𝖿𝗅𝗂𝗇𝗄𝖾𝖽𝗂𝗇𝖼𝗈𝗇𝗌𝗂𝗌𝗍𝖾𝗇𝖼𝗒𝖼𝗁𝖺𝗅𝗅𝖾𝗇𝗀𝖾𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁𝗀𝗋𝖺𝖼𝖾(𝖽𝖺𝗒 𝟣4🥳)

Empowering Individuals & Businesses | Crafting Elite Financial Strategies for Lasting Wealth & Abundance #EmpoweringFinanceGuy
Share a brief story of a financial win. It could be about paying off debt, saving for a home, or growing wealth. Here’s my story: In November 2016, I got my first car—a 2014 black Ford Fiesta SE. I was working full-time as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens, and I’ll never forget the excitement of seeing it delivered on a white tow truck from Carvana. They even gave me a $25 gift card as a thank you! 🚗💳 I financed the car through the Publix Employee Federal Credit Union (PEFCU) at a 2% interest rate. At the time, I didn’t know as much about financial principles as I do now, but I stayed focused and diligent, making every payment on time. I still remember the day I made the final payment—the credit union app crashed as I tried to submit it, which felt like a sign of how big that moment was! 😂 A week later, I got the title in the mail, and the feeling of officially owning my car was unforgettable. 🎉 By staying committed, I was able to pay off the car a whole year early—a personal milestone that proved to me that financial discipline can lead to amazing results. Whether it’s paying off debt, saving for a goal, or building wealth, every win counts. Ready to start your own financial success story? Let’s chat and map out your plan. 💼💡 #FinancialSuccess #DebtFreeJourney #SuccessStory #WealthBuilding #EmpoweringFinanceGuy

Should I Cancel My Mom's Store Credit Card for Her Finances? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gbZTh-PD #FinancialAdvice #CreditCardConcerns #RetailTraps Hey there! So, I need some advice regarding my mom’s recent incident at TJ Maxx. She’s 70, and while shopping, she was convinced into signing up for a store credit card that she thought was just a discount program for 10% off. 😟 Despite her asking if it was a credit card several times, the associate assured her it wasn’t. To make matters worse, she ended up giving her Social Security number and other personal info. Now, my mom isn't the greatest with money; in fact, her relationship with debt has been rocky. We’ve had to bail her out quite a few times in the past, and she’s finally at a point where her finances are stable with just one small credit card. So, naturally, I’m worried that this store credit card could send her back down a dangerous path. Here are some key points to consider: Financial Awareness: It's alarming that retail staff sometimes mislead customers into thinking they’re signing up for something harmless. This can lead to significant financial consequences. 😱 Impact on Credit: Canceling the card cou...

He finally earned it! This was a cool money lesson for my son. . . . . Several months ago, my son and I went to a D-backs game (classic). Upon entering the Team Shop, he had one item in mind... a new Sedona Red D-backs jersey. A crisp new design with the teal popping (great marketing by the D-backs BTW). At the beginning of the season, I offered $60 to spend in the Team Shop. He already spent $20 at a prior game. Here's how the conversation went down: 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧: "Dad... [hesitates to build courage] I really like that jersey." 𝐌𝐞: "Ok buddy, let's take a look. How much does it cost?" 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧: "A $110." 𝐌𝐞: "Ok, let's see how much you have in the bank.... It looks like you have $70." 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧: "So, can I get it?" (he's better at math than that, I promise) 𝐌𝐞: "Here's the deal. You have $40 left from me. Plus, you have $70 in the bank. It'll cost about $120 with tax. So, you are $10 short at the moment." 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧: "Ok, so I can get it?" 𝐌𝐞: "Unfortunately, you are $10 short. BUT if you work hard, earn your allowance, then when you come to the next game, you'll have more than enough for the jersey." 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧: [disappointed, yet understanding] What a valuable lesson for a 10-year-old. Especially when he's the spender of the family. Could I have just bought the jersey? Totally. Could I have just taken $10 from his next allowance so that he could buy it now? Absolutely. But then my son would be missing out an important money concept... 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐲 [𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞]. Now he's understanding patience. He's seeing the benefit of delayed gratification. I'm so proud of him. (I let him know that several times) You earned that jersey, buddy. Wear it proudly! GO D-BACKS! #MoneyLessons #Dbacks #DelayedGratification

With Halloween just around the corner, it got me thinking... Does your costume personality match your financial personality? 🎃💸 Let’s break it down: 👻 The Saver – You’re the one dressed in a clever DIY costume that cost practically nothing! You love to get creative and save those extra pennies. In your finances, you’re all about building that rainy-day fund, staying frugal, and avoiding unnecessary expenses. 🧛♂️ The Spender – You’re rocking the elaborate, show-stopping costume that turns heads! In financial terms, you love to enjoy the moment, whether it’s treating yourself or splurging on experiences. Saving might not be top priority, but life’s about enjoying the ride! 🧙♀️ The Planner – Your costume is perfectly thought out, with every detail considered. You planned it months ago, just like you plan your finances. You’ve got a budget, a clear financial strategy, and you’re sticking to your goals no matter what. 🎭 The Risk-Taker – You love pushing the boundaries with a bold, out-of-the-box costume that no one saw coming. When it comes to your money, you’re willing to take big risks for potentially big rewards, and you don’t shy away from challenges. So, which one are you? Do your costume and your financial personality align, or are they total opposites? Let me know in the comments! 👇 #HalloweenFun #FinancialPersonality #SpenderOrSaver #MoneyMindset #FinancialPlanning
