Post for Accountants of Audited Entities!
There are few tasks that you can do, pre audit, to ensure your client’s audit runs smoothly and is auditors stay off your back!
1) Conduct a disclosure checklist - a lot of my time is spent going back to accountants with missing disclosures and quite often, spelling mistakes. It doesn’t look great in front of your clients if I have to do that.
2) Post your accounting adjustments back to your clients accounting software as you did them - I will be checking back to the underlying records.
3) Don’t delete working papers - it’s obvious to me when you try to hide something in your working papers, especially when I see #REF all over the place. Just be honest, I’m an accountant too and we all make mistakes.
4) Get your own accounting software reports ready - I will need to look at your mapping so a trial balance and nominal ledger from Iris, CCH, TaxCalc etc will be requested.
And then relax, your job is done 👍
