Q: How do you bring communities together? Q: Do neighbors really even care about each other in today’s busy world? (Answers below) Check out Matthew Lin, Crocker Middle School student council President, on the cover of the Hillsborough (🗺️🤷♂️) local BVM publication. Talk about Rock Star Status…🤘👏🎬🤩 A: Celebrate the positive events and people in the community and make them look legen…(wait for it)….dary!!! A: Yes! We are building a stronger sense of community in over 1,350 different neighborhoods in the US and Canada (now including Oceanside, CA), by spotlighting and supporting local residents and businesses. We're loving how Richardson Independent School District is embracing the Safe, Respectful, and Responsible values as a part of their Code of Civility! 🌟 They are using these values beyond the classroom and applying them at sports events, club activities, board meetings, and more. Way to go #RISD! #CodeOfCivility #MTSSBehavior #BehaviorSupport #EducationFramework

😁 Brilliant Saira MacNicol - and to think most of the collection is currently in a bag 😥 I may clear my meeting table in my office and we could put them there! For all my connections in the projects and in particular built environment world, given how important we know this is to society, should we have ducks to celebrate individual achievement? What are your thoughts? Who would you want to be represented as a duck given we are delivering so many mega and now giga-projects? I did find one - a Brunel Duck but this is celebrating his achievement for the SS Great Britain. Link in the first comment below. #project #projects #projectmanagement #builtenvironment #infrastructure #megaprojects #gigaprojects
📦 I’ve been with Historic Royal Palaces for nearly 9 months now and am currently packing my belongings into crates for an office move within Hampton Court Palace. 🐥I’ve just packed away ‘Henry VIII’ & ‘Anne Boleyn’ and am reminiscing about the ‘Duck Wall of Fame’ I created as a teacher. It began with the 2 aforementioned ducks (which I bought here at Hampton Court on a school trip many years ago… so they’ve come full circle), but rapidly increased to over 100! Some I bought, but many were gifts from students. 🦆 They would rush to arrive early for lessons so they could try to identify each duck and match them to the pictures on the wall. Every child had their favourite. Mine is the iconic ‘Rosie the Riveter’ duck! 🐣 I still bump into former students who always ask about the ducks. I’m hoping to move them all to the new office (if I’m allowed) and can’t wait to tell former students that they now reside at Hampton Court! #historyteacher #ducks #lifelonglearning #classroom

This is more than a lesson in parenting. Apply this same concept to being a manager and watch your team flourish As managers we often get in the habit of being fixers instead of teachers and coaches. If you find yourself constantly running around playing an infinite game of whack-a-mole, take that as a sign that something is wrong. Most managers have teams that are understaffed and are constantly be asked to do more with less. Let this video be a lesson on how to achieve more with less. Create a safe space and clearly communicate it to your team. Then empower your people by letting them work through the difficult tasks, allow them fail, encourage them to keep trying, and above all else, never, ever, forget to celebrate their victories. One of your most important jobs as a manager is to empower and train your team to one day take your job. If you aren't doing this, you are not only doing a disservice to your team and the entire organization, but you're also placing additional burden and stress on yourself as a manager.

LOVE this. Now that is how you teach a child independence. REPOST if you agree. We need more free thinkers in society - enough of the coddling and participation trophies. #thinblueline #lawenforcement

Read more from our Heading of Boarding, Miss Serbrock, in the Prep Schools Trust monthly blog 👇
In this month’s blog, Leonie Serbrock, Head of Boarding at Mowden Hall School, recognises the importance of creating a ‘home’ for the pupils that board at our schools. At the Ranching for Profit School we teach principles that allow each person to determine what the best practices are for their own unique operation. Seth and McKay Haderlie learned how to go past doing some quick cowboy math to being able to use the Ranching for Profit framework to evaluate what would be the most profitable endeavor for their operation. #ranching4profit #businessmanagement #ranching
