They are awesome at: Operations Project management Customer success They make stuff happen. They are what AI will never be able to do. But most of all, these are incredibly gifted people who don’t flinch when presented with the most challenging task. Hire a planner.

I may be biased to Julius Solaris’ opinion below - He’s so right! I’ve never worked with better all-around problem solvers than the people who successfully plan and execute events. We have the ability to communicate with all levels of sometimes very complicated cross-functional teams. When changes come up (as they often do) - we pivot on a dime and deliver the best possible outcomes. AI may help us get through a lot of things - but it does not replace face to face, live, human experiences. Feeling incredibly valued today after coming across this post and reflecting on my journey. It’s been almost a month since I've been on the job market, and while my experience is heavily events-oriented, I'm eager to dive deeper into brand campaigns and marketing. In my previous roles, I've consistently stepped outside my comfort zone, adapting to non-event-related tasks and often exceeding expectations. My experiences have spanned across employee engagement, internal communications, client servicing, brainstorming innovative marketing campaigns and much more. Hoping for many more such opportunities to come my way. As event managers, our creativity knows no bounds, especially when it comes to solving last-minute challenges. I firmly believe that our potential should be fully utilized and explored in every aspect of the industry. Here’s to embracing new opportunities and showcasing our true potential! 🚀

Always appreciate these insights from Brooke Kruger; and one of the reasons she is one of the best in the business. This point especially resonated: "What a comms leader was responsible for years ago is not the same today. The function is always expanding to cover everything from narrative building, media relations, content creation and beyond." The day to day for comms has changed dramatically in the 20 years I've worked in this function; even my own role now includes Brand Marketing. But what hasn't changed and why I love working in this field is the way that comms continues to serve as sounding board, connective tissue with marketing and trusted advisor on complex issues impacting the business.
This Spring and Summer I have had the chance to speak to top comms professionals at events in NYC, SF and Seattle with Mixing Board and Shallot Communications. These are different markets but the same themes came up at each event and solidify what KC Partners is seeing in the market. --It has never been more critical that you have the right comms leaders in place in this ever changing world. --What a comms leader was responsible for years ago is not the same today. The function is always expanding to cover everything from narrative building, media relations, content creation and beyond. --While budgets may be tight right now, they will come back and you want to be ready to scale your comms function in the right way. --The hiring process is changing. It's longer and more people are involved. This means more opinions on who gets the job but it's also a thorough process where candidates can get a deeper understanding of the role, people, culture and more. #commshiring #kcpartners #commstalent
