FirstHealth of the Carolinas’ Post

300th WATCHMAN | Monday was a big day for our care team at Reid Heart Center as we completed our 300th WATCHMAN procedure. It was also the 200th procedure for electrophysiologist Dr. Mark Landers. The WATCHMAN procedure is an alternative treatment to blood-thinning medications to prevent a stroke. It is a small, flexible implant about the size of a quarter. The implant is placed into your heart during a minimally invasive procedure and never needs to be replaced. More than 150,000 patients have received WATCHMAN, with a 98.8% procedural success rate.
