3 years ago, I had a massive medical scare. I had developed an unexpected cyst. It was scary; I spent days waiting for results. When the results finally came in, I was at work. The doctor wanted to meet me in person. I asked my boss for permission to leave. They declined and wanted me to wait until EOD. I was crushed; how could they? Stories like this aren’t isolated. It’s the reality of 99% of women in America. ⪜ Clock in early; work like a dog. ⪜ Commute or be isolated at home. ⪜ Kids sick? Too bad, 9am meeting. ⪜ Tired or on your period? Caffeinate. After spending years in environments like these, I decided to say, “It ends here.” And took control over my life. I stopped saying, “Yes!” to companies. Even if they looked good on paper. I stopped playing someone else’s game. I became the MVP. Please know this - You can do this, too. You ARE incredibly talented. Stop going with companies that soul-suck. Don’t try to convince yourself That it will be “Ok.” Trust me, it’s not. ⪜ Align yourself to companies that care. ⪜ Ask the right questions in interviews. ⪜ Truly understand their company culture. ⪜ Talk to current employees at the company. If the company starts to not check out, exit. There are opportunities out there. Do not settle. Do not waste your life away. Nothing is worth sacrificing your life for. Not even a dream job. PS: Have you been in a similar situation?

Stress reduction game starts with this utterance'like kids we all need to be like them' 1.taking it easy in times of life challenges 2.Prioritize happinenn, joy, hope that ti's will pass too 3.Literally play a mind game including talking out loud, write short poem, create a new song and sing it loud. You shall have tapped on the power of the babe inside of you.. Your soul. 4.Be a soulmate of your inner babe through 5 minutes meditation, forced laughter, think past joyful moments of your life. Kids never gorget christms shopping joy and they forever think they will meet father Christmas in town. That memory is imprinted. So tap on those joyful memories imprinted on you mind. Observe your reaction. Which is.. Instant smile 5. This is your play therapy playing with the spiritual babe inside of you. She or he is more powerful that the physical you. Trust him or her. Babe💏 🤗
Allow ourselves the opportunity to rejuvenate, create mental space, recharge our systems and play. And when you have time off, "your only job is to make room for serendipity." The future of work is emotional. Let me explain. Historically, there’s been an emphasis on learning “hard skills” as a way to secure employment. What happens when you start working though? It’s kind of like being the best at something within your small town. You move to a larger city (aka that job), and realize that most people have the same technical skills as you. Some are even stronger in that area than you. Here’s the thing though. According to Harvard Business Review, 90% of what sets High performers apart from their peers is emotional intelligence. Knowing this, you’d think more people would focus on this skill. You’d think it’d be taught in school or even at work. Nope. I learned this skill in therapy...and then put in the work…outside of work…to strengthen it. I went into therapy for personal reasons and left with the most impactful professional skills of my career. There are barriers to acquiring these skills though: stigmas around mental health, access, and culturally-equipped practitioners. With Plurawl, I've found a differentiated way to teach people emotional intelligence (centered around the lens of professionalism vs authenticity). We've been focused on producing media, and now we are launching technology to scale the impact and help people with their self discovery journey. Join our app waitlist...

I help mid-career professionals reinvent themselves | Think like an Employpreneur™ | Former innovation strategist | 9-time career pivoter | Author | Career Transformation Coach
Who are you and why should I care??? Now that over 8,000 of you have seen me in this ridiculous centaur photo montage... I feel like I should introduce myself again. And I'd love to get to know YOU -- if you're willing to introduce yourself in the comments 👇 Ok... I'll go first... Hi! I'm Roberto (Row-Bear-Toe), a.k.a. "The Mid-Career Reinvention Guy", or the "51 year old guy who shares his vulnerabilities as career reinvention lessons." I'm a Cancer (zodiac, not adjective), husband and proud father of two. I was born in South America (Venezuela, not Alabama), and came to Chicago in 1999. I devoted 20+ years launching new products and brands with global corporations and consultancies. And, along the way, I reinvented my career 9 times. Now, I support successful executives and entrepreneurs in their mid-40s who want to take their careers in a new direction but are unsure of what that looks like or how to pull it off. I help my clients solve those big questions that traditional career advisors and headhunters can't. ➡️ How to repackage their skills and strengths to make a bigger impact. ➡️ How to pursue their dreams without taking a pay cut. ➡️ How to decide which of their many ideas is worth committing to. ➡️ How to find greater work-life balance. I love sushi, hate the smell of bacon, listen to podcasts every day and used to play conga drums with several bands before my second daughter was born. I don't go around poo-pooing corporate jobs and encouraging people to go solo. I'm far from perfect- I often hear what I recommend my clients to do and think "oh sh*t... I should be doing that too!" But I'm proud that I started my business at age 49 and been able to help numerous people of intimidating intelligence and accomplishments find a new direction for their careers. And more so, that I get to pick up my girls from school every day while doing this work. So, that's me... Can't wait to get to know you in the comments!

As life evolves and values distill into #blueprints, increased financial stability will help you consciously decide the path that will allow you to make choices that align directly to things that will keep you fulfilled in the longer term. I know very clearly that - ‣ I enjoy the larger value footprint that comes with working in a large organization; the ability to grow with the challenges. ‣ What brings abundance in my life is the marriage of data and wellness and the impact on lives as I do my volunteer work in helping people better their health. This is an interesting 5-𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘧𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘨 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. Use them all, or some. Customer-obsessed professional driving customer satisfaction, retention, and growth through strategic planning and collaborative alignment with cross-functional teams.
Rejection can be tough, especially when it comes from a company with a product you admire. Today was particularly hard for me as I received yet another rejection email. Despite what others may say about Mondays and Fridays being the worst days for rejections, I've found that mine come any day of the week, even on weekends. This one stung a bit more than usual. But I won't let it stop me from pursuing my dreams and finding the right opportunity. #rejection #nevergiveup Thanks to LinkedIn's Generative AI for drafting that for me, my brain is still recovering. I'll handle the rest of this post best I can! Last week, my son had the flu (and 2 ear infections)- his first real illness, while my wife was travelling for work. To say that I coddled him during that time is a massive understatement, it was like the newborn stage all over again! I rescheduled interviews and basically dropped off the face of the planet while my sleep-deprived brain focused on his every congested breath and the river of mucous he created. He's much better now and back at daycare while I'm back at the grindstone trying to find my place in the workforce again. I'm #readytowork, be one of those kick-butt #workingmoms (like my amazing wife) #customerobsessed and #lookingfornewopportunities
