It may sound arrogant, but I excel at mingling, networking, and small talk. I love getting to know new people. I easily talk to everyone in new places. I love sharing and listening to others. For me, every new person I meet could be my new best friend :) So, why doesn't my networking always work? How come I can't remember the awesome people I met years ago? I think it's mainly because I lack the time to maintain all my connections. In a good week, I meet 3-80 new people (sometimes more if I'm lecturing that week). I know I don't need to know everyone deeply, but it often boils down to a few key relationships and most of them don't last too long. Does anyone relate to this and can shed some light on the matter? What do you do to maintain new connections? How do you keep long-standing relationships strong with people you value in you career? Story Architect | I help women 𝘽𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙐𝙣𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 by uncovering their key stories & empowering them with storytelling skills so they get noticed in professional settings.
FACT: Asking the right questions is just as important as having the right answers. You’ve probably worked on your elevator pitch at some point. You may have even prepared some stories to tell at networking events that are tied to a professional goal. ✨The next step is STRATEGY and creating opportunities to share your pitch and stories. One of the best ways to do this is to ask the questions you want to answer. 👉🏽 For example: If I want to tell my career story, I might ask the person I’m networking with: “How did you end up working in the ______ industry.” They’ll tell me their story and then it gives me the opportunity to share mine after. This simple but effective strategy creates space for the stories of others while also creating opportunity for the stories you want to tell. The end result is making meaningful connections and creating a path to that next step in your career. If you want more details about how to put this strategy into action, I have free 20 minute mini-training with more details + a worksheet for you to plan your own stories and strategy: https://lnkd.in/g55P2-w7 #strategicstorytelling #storytelling #professionaldevelopment #personalgrowth #empowerher #relationshipbuilding

Just stumbled on this article discussing the challenges of executive-level networking. It presents some interesting insights, especially about tailoring your story to your audience. But it struck me that a critical aspect was overlooked, only briefly mentioned at the end of the article - the art of relationship building. Networking should go beyond simply trading business cards or searching for your next career move. It's about building authentic relationships that inspire and motivate us to reach greater heights. With the right mindset and approach, networking can become a source of inspiration, support, and growth. What role has networking played in your personal and professional growth? Any standout lessons or experiences? https://lnkd.in/edZBxHs4

Networking events are happening all the time, and you don't want to be the one who sounds out of place! It's essential to perfect your elevator pitch. Here’s how you can nail it in 5 easy steps: 1. Grab Their Attention: Start with an interesting opening line that piques their curiosity. Make them want to hear more. 2. Introduce Yourself: Share your name (if needed), your profession, and a brief overview of what you do. Establish your credibility right away. 3. Show Your Value: Explain what makes you unique. Highlight the benefits you provide and how you can solve their problems. 4. Keep It Short and Simple: Make sure your pitch is brief and easy to understand. Avoid using jargon or complicated terms. 5. End with a Call to Action: Finish by suggesting the next step. Encourage them to contact you, set up a meeting, or visit your website. Bonus Tip: Tell a Story: Engage them with a short story that shows your impact or success. Make it relatable and memorable. Hope this helps you on your career journey! Follow Meghana Jain for more :)

Software Quality Assurance Analyst who enjoys designing processes, leading, and executing quality initiatives to deliver improved products and profits.
Networking is about building relationships, finding commonality, and making friends. I would recommend focusing on building genuine relationships. I learned how to do it alone, but along the way, I met coaches, mentors, and friends who believed in me. Networking was the key, I continued to surround myself with people who would remind me of my capabilities when my confidence was waning. You will be amazed to see how inspiring people are and helps to learn that you are diligently doing the right things and also helps identify the areas for learning. I followed some steps and had a coffee chat with an amazing person #paridhiverma. I met #paridhiverma at a #Brainstation event, I requested a coffee chat, and she quickly responded agreeing to meet up with me. I had a virtual chat with her to learn more about her career journey. She shared her inspiring story and also gave some valuable tips and career advice. It was very motivating to know that I am on the right track and also to identify the areas for learning. Follow these simple steps: 1. Get out of your comfort zone 2. Attend industry events regularly 3. Again follow step one - Get out of your comfort zone and say “hello” to people 4. Connect with them on LinkedIn 5. Send a personalized “Thank you” message 6. Follow up with a request for a Wine/Beer/Coffee Chat 7. Be a good listener in the meeting - first, listen to their story and then share yours 8. Ask if they have any career advice 9. Thank them for the meeting Take courage, start networking and increase your visibility in your industry. #jobsearch #jobseekers #networking

They emphasize the power of persistence and cognitive flexibility, showing that with determination and the right mindset, anyone can enhance their networking prowess to advance their career. This insightful piece is a must-read for all professionals looking (not only introverts) to boost their networking skills.
