Terrific work and congratulations! Oregon State University Center for #healthsciences athletic training students Kaleigh Hanzlick (left), Tatum Komlodi and Samantha Renson (right) in the OSU Cowgirl softball dugout. The three are completing their clinical rotations at OSU Athletics before graduating in May 2024. “I did a clinical rotation at Whirlpool and loved it,” she said, adding that having #athletictrainers in settings outside of sports is one way she and others are fighting the stereotypes of her profession. “We’re not physical therapists and we don’t just tape ankles.” https://lnkd.in/ebawKcif The #physicalmovements of #employees at #factories or #plants are often #laborintensive and #repetitive, much like those of athletes, so the principles of athletic training translate to an #industrialsetting very well.

Balancing Academics and Athletic Demands as a Student Swimmer For student athletes who swim competitively at the high school or collegiate level, the demands on time and energy are intense. Between classes, homework, social lives and hours of weekly training, burnout is inevitable without proper balance. If you're a student swimmer struggling to manage it all, here are some tips: Be honest about your academic abilities and don't overload your schedule. Know your limits. Prioritize school over sports - coaches should understand grades come first. Use "found time" wisely like listening to lectures while stretching or reading during bus rides. Avoid scheduling intense classes right before big swim practices or competitions. Communicate challenges proactively with professors and advisors to get extensions when needed. Build a relationship with on-campus tutors or form study groups with classmates. Don't isolate! Set aside time for quality socializing, family, and self-care. All work and no play is draining. Learn to say no - avoid over-committing to too many activities and clubs. Focus on key priorities. Balancing it all takes grit, planning and support. Reach out and utilize all the resources available to you on campus. How did you find harmony as a student athlete? Please share your lessons learned and tips below!

Lawmakers question the advanced degrees and low pay leading to shortage of #athletictrainers Low pay has been among the most frequently cited areas of concern among athletic trainers across the country, according to a recent survey by the National Athletics Trainers’ Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. Higher pay for athletic trainers in the #industrialindustry and the #armedforces was also found to be a contributing factor to shortages of trainers for schools. https://lnkd.in/ePgQTMpA

Watching schools promote fitness just for the sake of admissions, they claim to focus on sports but overlook the basic need for students to engage in physical activities or sports in proper sports attire. This oversight may not solely be the fault of management. PE teachers need to clearly communicate the benefits of sports attire to the management. Unfortunately, I've seen PE teachers wearing shirts and jeans at school. When PE teachers themselves do not prioritize or demonstrate the importance of free movement, how can they effectively convey this message to the management? #sportsattire #sports #sportsattire #freemovement

Passionate Innovator | Turning Complex Challenges into Creative Solutions | Leadership Through Strategy, Collaboration, and Fun!
With the rise in demand for dual credentialed professionals in Pro Sports, particularly in Athletic Training (AT) and Physical Therapy (PT), there's a growing discussion about the need for a paradigm shift. Some suggest merging AT and PT programs to establish a dedicated Sports PT track. Their argument is that there will be a reduction in the number of individuals with dual credentials from MSAT and DPT programs. While this proposal presents possibilities, it also comes with significant challenges. The legal and legislative processes involved in restructuring educational programs would be complex and costly, necessitating thorough consideration of various barriers before implementation. Would you support or reject this fictitious shift?

🏀🏈 Attention student athletes, coaches, and Administrators 📣 When it comes to college recruiting education, one of the biggest components that gets overlooked is understanding the student athlete experience and the demands of playing college sports. 🎓🌟 While talent and skills are important, it's equally essential to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and hard work that student athletes put into their sport. The demands of balancing academics and athletics can be immense. The time commitment alone to both academics and athletic responsibilities is more than a full time job. On average college student athletes are putting in 60+ hours dedicated to their studies and their sport, at all levels. Let's work together to ensure that the PSA’s truly understand what it means to be a college student-athlete . And let’s help them learn how to balance the 3 S’s ; School , Sports, and Social Life successfully . 📚 🎯⚽ #StudentAthleteExperience #CollegeRecruiting #AthleticsAndAcademics #SupportStudentAthletes
