I am a 3rd-year student at Clemson University. I am fascinated by structural engineering but am more than willing to learn more about the other Civil Engineering sub-areas!
I have successfully completed my summer internship at ECS Limited. I have learned a lot about construction materials, specifically concrete and soil. I have gone through what I learned extensively about concrete and soil in my past LinkedIn posts. In this post, I will discuss one key takeaway from my internship. And that is COMMUNICATION. Something as simple as asking questions when you have exhausted all your options is essential to do your job as efficiently as possible. Or explaining to the site superintendent how to better compact the soil after obtaining the results from the nuclear gauge. Even simple small talk can be effective in the long run. My experience with communication at ECS Limited has taught me that clear, timely, and effective communication helps avoid misunderstandings, ensures everyone is on the same page, and ultimately leads to better outcomes. I am grateful to Holly Kauer, Anthony Troiani, E.I.T., Coleman McDaniel, Jonathan Yandle, and the other co-workers I've worked with during my internship for further guiding me toward becoming a successful civil engineer. I am also grateful to Rachelle Beckner, EMBA, for preparing civil engineering students specifically for communication in the Springer Curriculum. The communication skills I learned in Springer helped me immensely during my internship. Effective communication is the key takeaway I will carry forward in my career, knowing that excellent communication is the foundation of great work. PS: The video below is the placement of a tilt panel! The placement process takes around 30 minutes. The concrete was poured on top of the pad and then lifted and placed as a wall after it settled. If you're reading this, I hope you had a great summer!

CURRENTLY HIRING! Engineering, Construction, Real Estate & Industrial recruitment services. Running a Quality>Quantity approach for both employers & employees!
I can't stress the importance of offering a GREAT internship experience for future civil engineers. The education is more challenging when compared to other fields. Roughly 50% of engineers will drop out or change majors. There is a lot that can be improved upon on the educational side of things, but if employers can create an engaging and rewarding internship process, more engineers will stick to their education. Why wouldn't you want to improve your own talent pipeline and help grow the civil community? #CivilEngineering #TalentAcquisition #InternshipProgram #AECRecruiting #Recruiting #Hiring

Civil Engineering 👷branch needs a Major revamping and restructuring. Civil Engineering degrees 📜 need a Dual degree type program 2 years core relevant subjects ,1 year specialisation and 1 year industry applications exhaustive internships . If we fail to achieve this in next 5 years many engineering colleges Will inevitably close this branch due to to very less paid jobs . What’s your opinion and suggestions for this view ❓ #aec #civilengineering
