Tom G. Saunderson Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz - Institute of Physics #EarlyCareerResearcherProject Superconducting chiraltronics: Whilst Moor’s law is breaking down in conventional computers, the quest to drive technological and computational innovation continues. Inventive solutions are required to find more compact processors, quantum or classical, which can also be computationally efficient to combat the effects of climate change. In my fellowship I will focus on the search to find new exotic topological order that exists at the interface between chiral textures and superconductors in the presence of spin orbit coupling to narrow the gap between our current capabilities and the demands of this age. #TopDyn #jgumainz #GutenbergCampus #UniMainz #GutenbergAlumni #contentmarketing #networking #socialmediamarketing #marketing #marketingdigital #promo #socialmedia #digitalmarketing #onlinemarketing #contentmarketing #marketingtips #marketingstrategy #success #Mainz #JGUMainz #community #science #physics #Physik #school #university #phd #doctorate #cosmology #students

Julien Flamant from CRAN - Research Centre for Automatic Control - Université de Lorraine will give a seminar entitled "Algebraic reconstruction strategies for polarimetric phase retrieval" Today at 02:00 p.m. 👉 Phase retrieval problems are ubiquitous in imaging applications, such as crystallography, coherent diffraction imaging or ptychography, among others. Motivated by recent advances in vectorial ptychography, we propose a novel phase retrieval model called polarimetric phase retrieval that leverages the physics of polarization measurement in optics. In this talk, he will first detail the uniqueness properties of this new model by unraveling equivalencies with a peculiar polynomial factorization problem. The latter will turn out to play a critical role, both regarding uniqueness of the problem and the design of algebraic reconstruction methods based on approximate greatest common divisor computations. In particular, these algebraic approaches provide a cheap and, numerically efficient alternative to usual iterative algorithms. To conclude, he will outline how these strategies can be extended to perform image reconstruction in vectorial CDI. I’m excited to share the editorial I authored for our own Journal of Physics: Materials, an innovative open-access journal by IOP Publishing. ✨ This marks a first for the journal and complements an exciting recent study by Sergey Grebenchuk, Maciej Koperski, Kostya Novoselov and their team at NUS Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials (I-FIM), National University of Singapore. 🔬 Their research explores how mechanical strain induced by bubbles affects the magnetic properties of the 2D ferromagnet, Chromium Bromide, CrBr3, offering key insights into the manipulation of magnetic behaviours in 2D materials, with potential applications for novel magnetic devices. ⚛️ The editorial aims to distil complex research more accessible to a broader scientific audience while amplifying its impact. At JPhys Materials, we strive to promote high-quality research and facilitate its dissemination across interdisciplinary fields. 📖 Read the editorial: https://lnkd.in/gZnm-AiM 📄 Read the manuscript: https://lnkd.in/gyW8-VnJ 🧲 Part of the Focus Issue on 2D van der Waals Magnets: https://lnkd.in/gveiK6xy We are indeed expanding the world of physics at IOP Publishing! #openaccess #openscience #academicpublishing #research #materialscience #vanDerWaalsmaterials #2Dmaterials #magnetism #strainengineering #scientificcommunication #JPhysMaterials #IOPPublishing #JournalofPhysicsSeries Physics World

I was really happy to present my research to highschoolers for the international day of light on the 16th of May at C2N - Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies. My talk, titled "Between Light and Matter", was an introduction about light-matter interaction. I was able to discuss about how to study matter with light, as well as how we can exchange information through light-matter interaction. It was a great pleasure for me to be able to make my work, usually really abstract, more accessible to younger generation, and hopefully motivate them to study Physics and pursue a career in the field. #Photonic #InternationalDayOfLight #Phononic #QuantumOptics

The team from Utrecht University in the Netherlands and Sogang University in South Korea claim to have been inspired by the functioning of the human brain, which also uses charged particles called ions dissolved in water to transmit signals within neurons.
