Who else is counting down to VMX 2024!? This is not my first VMX rodeo, so here are 5 tips to make the most out of this amazing conference. 1. Bring comfy shoes. There is a lot of walking. I tend to walk a lot between different CE talks and the Expo hall is huge! 2. Download the app BEFORE the event. Tens of thousands of people come to this and it's a lot on the WiFi, so it's better to download before and get familiar. And if you are super eager like me, go ahead and save the talks and exhibitors you don't want to miss right in the app. 3. Snacks and a water bottle. A diversity of food options will not always be available, so especially if you have a particular appetite, it's always good to have some trail mix or snack bars in your bag. 4. There's tons to do and many people to see. Before you arrive, decide the most important things you want to accomplish while you're there. That way when you are faced with many options, you'll know what you decided is most important. 5. With lots of people and sickness already going around, take care of yourself. Wash hands frequently. Eat well. Stay hydrated. It's no fun to be sick. BONUS: come see me at the Talkatoo booth #2377 on Tuesday, Jan 16th at 2:30 pm. After roaming the event floor at #packexpo2023 and #replus23, I am more convinced than ever a well-thought out strategy intertwining event technology with human enthusiasm and purpose is the right approach. Unfortunately, from my observation, a lot of exhibitors have lost their mojo and have become desensitized to the whole trade show experience. (We won’t talk about the need for sales/exhibitors re-training :/) Give your people and attendees something to DO. When they’re doing, they’re learning. Compelling storytelling and a focus on interactivity is lacking majorly. #Tradeshowbooths Going through the motions is a good way to get bad results. Engaging the attendees starts with re-engaging the event team. It’s important to give exhibitors something to work with.
