A number of cement companies are now pursuing clay calcination as part of their decarbonization journeys. But what’s the big deal? We answer the key questions ⬇️ What is calcined clay? Calcined clay is a supplementary cementitious material (SCMs), which is added to cement to reduce clinker content. This is important because clinker production is responsible for most cement-related CO2 emissions. Although the clay calcination process also emits CO2, it’s at a much lower level. And because clay deposits are geographically widespread, clay calcination provides a pathway to increased SCM adoption, even in regions that currently lack supplies of traditional SCMs. So, what does KHD offer? Everything you need! We have developed our clay calcination solutions from proven components for best possible energy efficiency and quality control. We offer two technology routes, flash calciner and rotary calciner, and will partner with you to deliver the best solution for your technical and business requirements. What next? Learn more about both options and how we can support your clay calcination ambitions at khd.com/clay-calcination. And let's build the future of cement, together. #cement #cementindustry #cementtechnology #decarbonization #cementbeyondcarbon #KHD #calcinedclay

The common problems and analysis of polycarboxylate superplasticizer in precast concrete include their low dosage, high water reduction rate, good plasticizing performance, strong compatibility with cement, and low concrete shrinkage. According to feedback from initial users, polycarboxylate superplasticizers are more convenient, safe, and efficient compared to previous generations of water reducers. There are significant differences in molecular structure, mechanism of action, and performance in concrete between polycarboxylate water reducers and traditional water reducers. Therefore, understanding and using them correctly is crucial for promoting the application of polycarboxylate water reducers.

Enhance Cement Plaster with Landercoll® Additives for Optimal Performance: Landercoll® K100 and EM100 are essential for improving the performance of cement-based mortars, especially in high-temperature conditions. By retaining water and slowing down evaporation, they enhance temperature tolerance. These additives also increase the fresh mortar's density by promoting air entrainment, incorporating microscopic air bubbles that make the mortar lighter, more durable, and easier to work with. Additionally, the cellulose ethers in Landercoll® modify the rheology by increasing viscosity and providing a thixotropic effect, which enhances workability, prevents segregation, and ensures a smooth, stable application. Together, these properties guarantee consistent performance and superior results in construction. #Landercoll #CementPlaster #PortlandCement #Masonry #Gypsum #HPMC #HEMC #Hydroxypropyl #Cellulose #WaterRetention

Minimal Surface Preparation is required for applying visco-elastic Polyisobutene. When applying visco-elastic polyisobutene to a substrate, minimal surface preparation or ST2 cleanliness is required. This means the surface must be free of dirt, grease, and scale but not necessarily of all rust. This level of cleanliness ensures optimal adhesion and performance of the polyisobutene. Remember, a clean surface is the foundation of a successful application! #surfacepreparation #sciencefacts #ProtectionUnleashed #innovationattide #polyisobutene #corrosionprevention #corrosionprotection #allterafrica #viscoelastic #offshore #steel #steelstructure #oilandgas #water #Pipelines #sealant #Allter #coatings #environmentallyfriendly

To reduce CO2 emissions, the proportion of Portland clinker in cements should be minimised. While this lowers early strength, this can be boosted by using reactive fine materials. Loesche has developed a multicyclone plant that produces fine composites with low energy demand. Tests with granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) showed that these so-called ‘ultra-fines’ (U/Fines) significantly improve the early strength of slag-rich cements, enabling their use in challenging applications like precast elements or shotcrete.
