Would you feel safe inside a building that has these fasteners on the outside? 🔍 Fasteners are not considered replaceable or maintainable (according to British Standard 7543:2015), so any fasteners used within a construction must last for the same lifespan as the building itself. Life expectancy of fasteners can be affected by a range of factors, including: - the climate where the building is located - environmental conditions - whether they have been damaged during installation Learn more about fastener lifespans with our Skills Hub article: https://buff.ly/3UpiWdU #fastenerlifespan #FixfastSkillsHub #bestpractice #longlastingconstruction

Is your dishwasher loud? Does it give off too much heat? It is most likely missing insulation. This is something we catch frequently at new construction inspection. Insulation is confused for packaging and thrown away. https://lnkd.in/gXznstg.

Rolling out long standing seam panels on-site offers significant advantages in construction. Fewer seams in the panels improve weather resistance and overall performance by reducing potential water ingress points. 1. Allows for customized lengths, ensuring a custom fit and seamless appearance 2. Reduces the risk of damage during transportation and the associated costs 3. Helps to speed up installations and allows for immediate adjustments 4. Quality control is improved as the production process can be closely monitored 5. Reduced material waste (through onsite measurements) and a lower carbon footprint due to minimized transportation needs For this project we rolled out 110 ft long panels in the color medium bronze to cover an older, existing metal roof that the contractor found was installed incorrectly. The old roof was in bad shape with a lot of leaks and pests. #newcastlemetal #newcastleknowsmetal #MetalRoofing #metalroofingcontractor

Fancy a trip to the construction site with KNIPEX? Then take a look at how our plumbing professional uses our largest pliers wrench 86 03 400. Most plumbers appreciate the pliers wrench because their always parallel access is so gentle that they allow work directly on chrome. But here you can also see how practical working according to the ratchet principle is - and you can guess what gigantic force you can transfer to the workpiece with our biggest pliers wrench. Do you know something better?

There's been some talk about Moisture/Damp meters and I'd just like to add that most 'pin' meters only measure across the pins. One 'predominate' manufacturer (no I'm not a fan) uses the term WME which means Wood Moisture Equivalent - which is not a great sale and merely equates the reading to wood? I have started using this bit of kit with the probes which means you have to drill the wall and get a proper reading and not just surface. https://lnkd.in/enaAiM2p For noting this has 4 separate readings - two for wood, one for concrete and one for plaster. I'd be interested for a discussion to start on why one manufacturer beginning with P has dominated the market but do Surveyors really understand what they are getting in terms of realistic measurements of Moisture?

If you work in maintenance or repair, refurbishment or retrofitting, demolition, installation work, you are likely to undertake work in a building that contains asbestos at some point. Some common areas you can find asbestos are lagging on plant and pipework, insulation products such as fire protective panels, asbestos cement roofing material, textured decorative coating. Make sure you know what to watch for, and what to do when you come across it, see the Quick Guide for Trades. https://lnkd.in/eJSV7uzD

Trenching in garage for plumbing involves excavating a narrow channel in the floor to install pipes. Begin by marking the path of the trench, ensuring it aligns with your plumbing layout. Use appropriate safety gear and tools to carefully dig the trench, maintaining a depth suitable for your pipes. Once dug, lay the pipes securely in the trench, ensuring proper slope for drainage. Backfill the trench with soil, compacting it to provide stability. This preparation ensures efficient plumbing installation in your garage.
