Traditional GPS struggles with ground robots. Terrain and obstacles can disrupt signals, leading to inaccuracies of up to 3 meters. TL;DR: 'traversable region' and 'Ground' is different!!! Please read the survey paper titled "Similar but Different: A Survey of Ground Segmentation and Traversability Estimation for Terrestrial Robots". Recently, terms representing the navigable areas for robots, such as 'ground,' 'traversable regions,' and 'movable area,' have been used interchangeably by many researchers without clear distinctions. This mixture of terms is often done for paraphrasing purposes. Furthermore, with the introduction of legged robots, such as quadrupeds, areas that were previously considered non-traversable due to discontinuities are now being included as navigable. As a result, new terms like 'steppable regions' and 'walkable areas' have emerged, making the definitions and expressions of navigable areas more complex. In this context, I have written a survey to introduce and advocate for the precise use of the terms 'ground' and 'traversable region.'
