All Things Equal is on a mission to support as many people with disability into employment as possible. Our pre-employment program is where it all begins. It’s the first step for our trainees to gain essential hospitality skills (and transferable ones too!), getting them ready for the workforce. It sparks independence, confidence, and purpose, often for the very first time. The big goal? To see every trainee earning award wages in our café and then building long-term, fulfilling careers in the broader hospitality industry. Big thanks to Transport Accident Commission (TAC) for believing in our vision and helping us bring our pre-employment program to life!

I have always thought these kinds of programs, apprentice/pre-apprentice craft labor training, sounded interesting. Do we know if they have successfully funneled graduates into jobs? Or if the quality of graduates is up to the task? Curious to learn more if anyone knows. https://lnkd.in/eAwBZeK6

August was Tradie Health Month, a perfect time to check in and ensure that #workhealthsafety was front of mind for everyone. But let's not forget that safety in the #construction and #bluecollar sectors is a priority year-round. ⚠️ Did you know? From 2017 to 2021, around 20% of workplace incidents reported to SafeWork NSW involved young workers. How's that for a reminder that thorough training and supervision are not optional, they’re crucial. Right now, we’re in a tight labour market, with many businesses relying on apprentices, trainees, and young workers to meet current and future demands. But this makes adequate supervision even more important. Inexperienced workers are more vulnerable to risks, and without the right support and oversight, the chances of incidents increase. We can't afford to cut corners when it comes to safety! As employers, it’s our responsibility to: - Protect not just vulnerable young workers, but all workers - Provide comprehensive training and supervision - Create a culture where safety comes first and speaking up is encouraged Here’s some things my team and I do to promote the safety of our candidates: 🚧 Toolbox Talks & Safety Conversations to reinforce key safety messages on-site 📞 Candidate care calls & check-ins during various stages of their assignments to ensure workers feel confident they’re receiving proper training, supervision, and know who to go to if they have concerns What strategies have you implemented to keep your workers safe? Let’s make sure every tradie goes home safely every day! #TradieHealthMonth #SafetyFirst #BlueCollarCareers #WorkplaceSafety #YoungWorkers #ConstructionSafety #SafeWork #Recruitment #BlueCollarLife #Newcastle #HunterValley #Apprenticeships #Traineeships #LabourMarket #WorkplaceSafetyTips Samantha Schmarr Mia Matthews Rarekind
