In 2023, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) significantly intensified its oversight of the crypto industry, initiating more than 25 enforcement actions against various cryptocurrency projects for selling unregistered securities. This marks the highest number of enforcement actions undertaken by the SEC against crypto projects in any single calendar year since it first commenced enforcement actions related to crypto activities in 2013.
