Surrey-Langley SkyTrain Construction Update: Test piling activities at Industrial Ave and 203 Street 👀 To prepare for the construction of the Surrey Langley SkyTrain, early works are underway in the area. As part of early construction work, crews will complete “test piles” over a three-week period starting the week of September 23 to October 7, 2024. Pile installation involves driving a long metal tube (pile) into the ground to provide the foundation for a structure. The purpose of the test piles is to provide geotechnical information for the design and construction of the new Langley City Centre Station. What to expect: Dates: Starting the week of September 23 to October 7, 2024. Timing:  Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Traffic:  No traffic impacts are expected Impacts:  There may be a temporary increase in noise and vibration while this work is taking place. Commuters on the Mitchell Freeway will notice a big change in the coming months, with two new #bridges being constructed over the freeway as part of the Stephenson Avenue Extension and Stirling Bus Interchange projects. The project team will employ a unique #constructionmethod, which will see the bridges progressively built and “launched” from one side of the freeway to the other. The advanced construction technique, selected for its benefits in maintaining access to the Mitchell Freeway and train services, will showcase an innovative approach to #infrastructure development in #WesternAustralia. The technique uses casting beds, where #reinforcedconcrete bridge sections are poured and cured, before being “launched” into place over live traffic conditions. Permanent and temporary #piers have also been constructed on the freeway, with vehicles shifted onto a temporary alignment while the works take place. Do You Know How Dangerous The I-69 Construction Zone Is? I-69 Finish Line, also known as I-69 Section 6, is the sixth and final section of the Interstate 69 connection between Evansville and Indianapolis. It begins in Martinsville and ends at I-465 in Indianapolis. The I-69 Finish Line project promises to reduce commute times from Martinsville to Indianapolis by 11 minutes. Construction first began on the I-69 project to connect Evansville to Indianapolis in 2008 although the end goal, a continuous route from the Texas-Mexico line to Canada, was first planned in the 1940s. INDOT plans to finish the sixth and final section linking the two metropole in 2024 after sixteen years with a total cost of $4 billion. The final piece of Indiana’s I-69 puzzle promises an additional 26 miles of interstate highway, 8 miles of wider lanes on I-465, more than 35 lane-miles of new local access roads, along with the rehabilitation and replacement of dozens of bridges along the route.
