Flatiron Construction facilitated a three-day workshop for students from the Kwanlin Dün First Nation community. The event covered essential safety training and construction fundamentals. The highlight? A hands-on site safety inspection with a guided job site tour of the Erik Nielson Whitehorse International Airport Runway Reconstruction and Airfield project. 👷🏻♀️🚧 👷🏻 As the largest airport in the Yukon, the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport is a critical piece of infrastructure to the Yukon transportation network. ✈️ Beyond the reconstruction of the main runway, the upgrades will enhance safety, increase operational capacity and improve efficiency. Being a part of the local community has long been important to the success of Canadian operations, and even more so for work near Indigenous communities. Through our Canadian projects, we have gained new perspectives, drawing from the culture, knowledge and community spirit of the diverse Indigenous communities across Western and Northern Canada. We support the hiring and development of local Indigenous staff on our projects and actively foster an inclusive corporate culture that allows all staff, from a variety of cultural backgrounds, to advance their careers with us. #TransformingInfrastructure #Yukon #Safety
