Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) plans to construct up to 24 dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at the Warren G. Magnuson Park in Sand Point, formerly the site of the Sand Point Naval Air Station. SPR is hoping to break ground in January 2026 and have the courts open by the end of that year. The funding plan allocated $2.1 million for the planning, design, and construction of a dedicated pickleball court facility. This conceptual design imagines multiple outdoor courts, stadium seating, new picnic tables and restroom facilities. GeoTest’s geotechnical department recently completed a geotechnical evaluation for the project site. The resulting geotechnical report is being used in the project’s design and construction phases. #pickleball #seattle #geotechnical #engineering

The Stratton Lock and Dam in McHenry, Illinois, opened in 1960, and over the years, its condition and capacity deteriorated. Also, because boat sizes have increased since the lock was built, only four large boats could safely pass through the lock at once. Boats would spend up to four hours waiting to pass. Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) officials asked Hanson to provide a predesign report to review and summarize previous engineering analyses. Then, the Hanson team designed improvements to the lock, including doubling its length, allowing it to accommodate up to 10 boats at one time, decreasing the wait time to under one hour. The team's new gate design allows IDNR to better control the upstream pool elevation of the Fox River. And the team designed an innovative supplemental filling port with a diffuser to raise the water level, increasing safety for boats. The improvements were completed in 2022. #TBT #anniversary #project #LockAndDam

20 homes on foundations, plants in the ground, and equipment on the playground! Move-in day for wildfire survivors is finally on the horizon. Beyond move-in, we'll set our sights on Phase 2: "Homes for Good is in the process of procuring the 20 Manufactured/Modular homes and once purchased will be working closely with OHCS, Lane County, and assigned case managers to work with individuals and families that were displaced by the Holiday Farm Fire to connect them to this housing opportunity. The project will address inequitable access to high quality housing in low-income rural communities and community revitalization post disaster."
CRANE DAY! This week our team was able to witness the FINAL THREE modular homes being placed on their foundations at Lazy Days! Thank you to our partners at Lane County Government , Oregon Housing and Community Services , IdeaBox, Meili Construction Co., and Blazer Industries

The University of Michigan Center for Innovation, the Cosm project by Dan Gilbert’s Bedrock, and a JW Marriott hotel on the Detroit River are just a few of the projects that our team at Crain's Detroit Business will be tracking in the New Year. As Elizabeth Schanz and Kirk Pinho write, “Development in today's Detroit seems to be ever-present: looming cranes, fenced-in construction sites and piles of dirt.” As we prepare to close out 2024, here is a look at eight construction projects to watch in 2025: https://lnkd.in/g3Khv6PH #detroit #michigan #construction #business
