Hi everyone, happy almost Fourth of July! So much analysis on #AutomaticEmergencyBraking (AEB) and so little consensus! AEB is set to be mandated by 2029, though the Alliance for Automotive Innovation has brought up concerns on the technology. The new rule, as written, takes a new turn from the industry collaboration since 2016. More work and analysis must be done on AEB, which is now ubiquitous, but absolutely critical on the path to #autonomousdriving. Biggest issue is #phantombraking - and a #Tesla class action lawsuit making its way through the courts. Good bet that lawsuit will be settled before trial, so the depositions etc. will never see the light of day, as illuminating as the findings will be. We'll then be looking closely for #NHTSA's findings on the issue. My thoughts:
#AutomaticEmergencyBraking (AEB) is back in the news, as a key industry trade group asks #NHTSA to reconsider the mandate to make AEB standard in all vehicles by 2029. https://lnkd.in/gYXh_Y4W
